John Wilkins to visit isu this weekend

But if we eliminated all the opinions and assumptions on bulletin boards, there wouldn't be anything left.

I don't think anyone knows that he IS waiting for an offer from Crean... he may already have it and is just taking his time in deciding between IU, BU, ISU(Red & White), ISU (Red & Gold), and even perhaps Iowa. It may look like Crean is stringing him along but no one knows that... seems pretty unfair to the kid to assume that... IMO

If everything is on the table then how long does it take to make a decision like this? I'd bet the house that JW is waiting for something from someone. Otherwise, why take chance that you first option may be taken off the table?

Both of these are why we have to go our assumption for now. There is nothing out there concrete to believe. And as SFP pointed out, why else would he be waiting like this? It would be a shame for him if Indiana (or whichever school he is possibly waiting for) never offers and every one else moves on though. That is another reason not to let schools play games with you, because you are the only one that could get hurt.

It is a good point though Nacho to remember that we don't know anything for sure. I would hope JW would have at least let our coaches know where we stand by now though, it would be the right thing to do.

If he is half the player that he has been propped up as, BU and ISU will never "move on" from him...They may use their current open scholarships on other players, but if Wilkins called Les or Jankovich later in the summer and said he wanted to go to either school, I'm quite sure a scholarship would magically free up for him at that time.
I'm sure he knows that too, so there's really no reason to worry about his Valley fallback options disappearing while he's waiting to see if he can get a spot on a Big Ten or Big 12 roster.

Interesting....the blogger, Terry Hutchings, is the beat writer who follows Indiana University basketball. He is usually very good about checking out his info, although as in the past with blogs about Matt Roth, he tends to completely ignore midmajor schools when discussing what offers/options a kid has.

I just don"t understand why all of a sudden John just completely dropped Bradley off his list, he just does not realize how good he would be treated in Peoria, the next 4 seasons could be a very special time in BU basketball history .

It STILL could be very special. But I guess the last 4 years of Bradley hoops and being a lifelong Cub fan has given me this crazy hope for every season.
I just think that next year we'll be better right from the start. Our guards are the best in the Valley (IMO) and our Bigs are sure to be better next year if we work them in the offense more.

As far as schools stringing JW along, I think he is doing a good job of stringing Bradley along. If he has told the coaches he isn't coming now, that's ok even though I hope he hasn't. Bradley has stuck with him while the NCAA played their usual anti Bradley game. Be a man of your word John. Come to the hilltop. If you're not happy here can always leave.

I have posed the question before but how good is JW? We have heard he can shoot but he hasn't played in over 2 years. Can he rebound-I have heard that is not one of his stronger areas. Can he play defense-again, I have heard that may be his weakest area.
We need someone that wants to play "D" and can rebound (that is what most on this board have been saying for over a year now) and if he doesn't want to do more then stand around and shoot the ball and not rebound and play D then is this really a player we want at BU?

I'll agree that as a center for us, JW would not provide the "missing piece of the puzzle" in terms of more MVC wins, and I we should be quite good in the MVC without him next year.

I do think a player like JW as a forward (NBA size and possible skillset for a small forward) would give us a (a not only) missing piece of a puzzle in terms of beating elite teams. (much like having guys like Boogie, Cellus, Zach and POB allowed us to legitimately compete with elite teams)

If you can start to think beyond the MVC, you want someone like JW.

Seems as if BYU and Utah State are the 2 schools that usually benefit from players having been away on missions and thus playing when more physically mature. Well, except for Shawn Bradley.

now a premium report suggests that Kevin Noreen has Northwestern, Providence, and maybe one other among his favorites, so Indiana may have whiffed again.....
They the might soon find themselves the only D-I school left with an open scholarship......

This forum seems to suggest Indiana isn't a big player any more and that it is down to Iowa and Houston. Now who knows how reliable that is.

Seems like this kid really likes the attention of a new offer, because every time one comes up it seems that is where he is leaning. And Houston is no where near his father, so is that no longer a requirement? Either way I can't wait for this to just be over.

It COULD be over for you.....he isn't coming here and we haven't been an option for a long time. Just focus on those that want to be a Brave and move on from JW.

Do what I did....get an "easy" button and just hit it.....problem solved. :)
