Oregon to hire Dana Altman

so then....are the PJS guys going to challenge Dana on this obvious lie??
"This (Creighton) is home,” Altman said then. “This is where I will finish my coaching career.
That’s pretty obvious now.”
...Dana Altman, 4/4/07

btw - in that article, the Chancellor of Arkansas says that Dana was their coach for one day,
thus proving he wasn't the longest tenured coach in the Valley even bfore this move to Oregon!!

McDermott has an $800,000 buyout, something I suspect Creighton would be reluctant to pay...
one station says that Iowa State waived the buyout...something interesting...because it means they were happy to let him go and cut their losses with him....

So - who does Iowa State hire...will they chanced to take another Valley coach??

Mo especially owned Dana at Carver Arena. I believe JL was only 2-6 against Dana in Peoria. Maybe that fact will get Dana to give us a home game with his new team. :D

There's a thought! Good question. JL did administer one of Altman's 3 worst all-time losses at Carver (so it still may be thought of as a house of horrors despite recent success) and the general belief is JL teams matchup well against Altman's. . .so he either knows it will be a great challenge for his team or avoids us like the plague.

But with Oregon's new and larger arena they may not be as willing to go on the road or offer 2-for-1's as they did with Oakland recently.

T, I mean, Come on Man, whats with you:? The MVC and Creighton just lost the best proven coach in the league and all you can do is try to find dirt and stir the pot:!: One would think your concerns, like most MVC fans is, that Creighton hires someone that will bring half the success and respect, that Dana has given the league over many years! Would it not be a better thing to talk about his record, respect, leadership and what he has done for the league in his many successful years:!: He's not a liar as you proclaim! Just another coach/person who has decided to move on, after 3 years from making the commit:rolleyes: As for the Arkansas deal, Creighton and its fans were happy at his change of mine, so WHY after 3 years is it still so upsetting to you :? There's worst/more important things than that to concern yourself with friend:!: And why the PJS thing:? Do we really need to bring this BS stuff in to play, Geeeee's:rolleyes:
I wise Dana, all the luck in the future! I will miss watching a coach that sheds his suit coat, rolls up his sleeves, coach's every minute of the game! At lease t, be thankful he won't be beeting our butts and on our home court to boot:D Come on Man:roll:

Just to add a little perspective to this point...

Mo had the luxury of playing a good number of his games against DA when he was picking up the pieces following the Rick Johnson trainwreck. He did have to face some very good Creighton teams with Sears, Walker and Buford.

JL has had to deal with the best teams of the Altman era, beginning with Kyle Korver's jr and sr. seasons. Those two teams and the several following his graduation were the best of the Altman era.

I am not saying JL was better than Mo, or JL is as good as Altman...Just adding a little perspective the the comparative records vs. Diania :)

I know he's not, you obviously didn't read closely or are pretending you didn't...
our local press has made a habit out of finding every little thing a coach says that looks like a lie and doing a whole column on it...I just expect consistency....;)

not a lier

*liar
sorry it is bold and my OCD is getting to me.

I agree with OOB. I think it is crass and unfair to call Dana a liar, despite the fact he said he wanted to finish his career at Creighton.
Some of the writers in Omaha are doing that-

But I think Creighton fans should appreciate what Dana did for them while he was there, and accept that he is just seeking a better opportunity for himself and his family.

I agree as well......kinda like people jumping on Wilkins for changing his mind 2 years later when it comes to a life-changing decision.
