CBI & CIT bids

The CIT has explicitly stated they go for the mid-majors.

In fact, the CBI is nearing death, I'd say. It's pretty clear most of the BCS want no part of these tourneys, especially when so many of them are getting in the back end of the NIT. The CIT is going after the right teams. The CBI built itself around getting the bigger name brands, and it's not working.

I could see them expanding even if they want to. If the CBI folds I bet they go to 24.

So 6 Valley teams in post season play by my count

NCAA-UNI
NIT-WSU, ISU red
CBI-ISU blue
CIT-CU, MSU

Bradley I'm assuming would have had the opportunity to make it 7 if they wanted, so not bad, but I'd like to see the conference start transitioning teams from just being in a post season to being in a good postseason. I think next year will be better for the conference, although this year wasn't terrible. Scheduling was the big thing.

I just noticed something. What happened to Charlotte? They are nowhere to be found in any postseason tourneys! I wonder what happened there. 19-12 out of the A-10 should be enough for any of these tourneys.

They didn't get into the NIT and said no thanks to the rest of the alphabet soup.

How in the world do they miss the NIT.

Anyone know if any of the bids are out yet? Just curious to see who will be in these tourneys.

Again, here are all 16 teams for the CIT- 2 MVC teams, Creighton and Missouri State-

More bad news for Indiana State who plays St. Louis University in the CBI on March 16-
http://tribstar.com/sports/x1897238380/ISU-men-draw-Billikens-in-CBI-tournament

Indiana State will be without leading scorer Harry Marshall, who reinjured his broken right foot in Indiana State's MVC Tournament loss to Illinois State. Marshall had been battling a stress fracture in the foot, and reinjured it in the first half of the March 5th quarterfinal game in St. Louis.

One advantage of the CBI is that they have a TV contract with HDNet. Indy St. gets their game at St. Louis televised at 8pm Central on Tuesday.

But I'm amazed at the CBI - in the past 2 years they have gotten some BCS schools to play in this, but not this year. It also seems the BCS schools are putting a lot of pressure on the NIT to pick them, further weeding things out that the CBI and CIT are designed for mid-majors.

The CBI must be struggling. They cut a deal with SLU that puts them into one of their preseason tournaments in 2011, either Coaches v. Cancer or the CBE in Kansas City.

If BU could have worked out a deal like that, I would have second thoughts on not wanting to play in the CBI. Of course, it is easier to say that with a full recruiting class. And hopefully neither of my teams need to be negotiating with the CBI, CIT, or NIT in the near future.
