Is this what we need in college sports?

Its helping the symphony! ...

yeah-- sure...and it isn't helping Cal or the whiskey maker at all....

BTW -- it is NOT necessarily helping the Symphony if you read the release...it is helping bring the symphony to the public schools...

personally I am a bit leery of profit making organizations/corporations who claim they will give a certain share of their sales, as there are countless examples of where this never gets done and there's no law that requires them to keep their word..

do the cups have Jim Les' likeness?

no, but somebody is profiting by selling an alcoholic beverage(s) at a Bradley basketball game...

I am not really crazy about seeing Calapari's likeness on a whiskey bottle while he is a coach at Kentucky, but the same time, I am not going to go after the guy while my school is playing games at an arena that sells alcoholic beverages before and during the game.

And thank the maker they do sell beer there...

I gotta say, I don't really see this as a big deal. Kentucky basketball is a big deal in the commonwealth; Maker's Mark is a big deal - throwing his likeness on something that supports a good program is fine. All-in-all, Horse racing, bourbon, and Basketball is a lot of what the state pride's itself on.

Good for Calipari, good for the UK Symphony and good for Makers Mark. If it is something that benefits all three parties without hurting anybody I don't see how it is a bad thing.

Haven't seen the advertisement. Other than his likeness, is there anything else in the advertising that references KY or College BB? I would have a problem with that.

At least he isn't shilling for Viagra or other ED drugs!:eek:

What other product endorsements, besides alcohol, would be as distasteful for a college coach to promote? :?::?::?:
