Standings and stats as on 2/25/10

Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina and others don't recruit. THEY CHOOSE.

Apples to Oranges and you know that!

Not really. But OK, I will humor you - Go over to the other passionate boards in this league - CU, WSU, SIU for example. Again, the perceived negativity on this board pales in comparison to those, and again none of those schools have a problem recruiting. In fact, all of those programs have won more conference titles than we have since the invention of the internet, so one could argue that the lack of objectivity in viewing the BU program on this board has actually hurt recruiting, not helped it. But believe what you want. If a kid doesn't want to be a part of a program because he read something about the coach on a message board, do we really want him if he's that impressionable and easily persuaded? Please.

Ahhhhh...I think you are on to something, BB...We need MORE negativity and criticism on this board...not LESS!
Perfect...I'll get to work on that.

BU has 1 NCAA appearance with a 2-1 record.
BU has 1 NIT appearance with a 1-1 record.

BU is 14-12 in all postseason appearances under Jim Les.

what are you smoking??

2006 NCAA - record was 2-1 - reached Sweet 16 of NCAA
2007 NIT --- record was 1-1 - reached Sweet 16 of NIT
2008 CBI --- record was 4-2 - played in the Championship Game
2009 CIT --- record was 3-1 - played in the Championship Game
Total...........four tournaments, 10 wins, 5 losses....

and as noted elsewhere Bradley has the most post-season appearances of any Valley team and most post-season games as any Valley team, and most post-season wins as any Valley team in the past 5 years....and NO TEAM in the Valley has more than a single victory in St. Louis more than BU in that same past 5-year span!!

He must be counting the MVC Tournament record, which is 4-7.

Since when did they start calling the 2nd round of the NIT the 'Sweet 16'?

Jim Les is 4-7 in the MVC tournament.

That adds up to 14-12.

Nice try -- pretty creative accounting.......but those are still Valley tourney games not post-season tournament games......
How many Valley teams have more than 4 wins in St. Louis since 2005?

How is that creative?

Dictionary.com defines "postseason" as: The period after the end of a regular season in which additional games or playoffs are held, especially to determine a champion.

So in games AFTER the regular season, Jim Les is 14-12.

Nothing creative, just facts.

thank you...so we agree....Bradley has four such wins and
nobody has more than 5 such wins...so tell which team has been so far superior to Bradley in St. Louis if the best they can brag is that they have a single win there more than BU??

What did we agree on? That we're as good as half the league? Yippee.

Any team that's won the title is far superior to BU in St. Louis, and I would go as far as to say anyone who's made multiple title games is superior as well. Not sure what's hard to understand about that.

MVC tournament does not count as post season.

With all your experience at Bradley, you know that!

Well it either counts as postseason or MVC play. Personally if you're a big JL advocate I would want it counting as postseason, otherwise it makes the conference record that much worse.

I'm not a SPIN doctor looking for the best stats to make JL look better. I just know his heart and experience means a ton in my book.

Be careful what you ask for: You may get another "Coach Mo" or Stan!!

Heart and experience? How about wins and losses? Usually when people say someone has a lot of heart or tries hard, it means they aren't very good. I have no doubt JL gives his best, and his best has resulted in average results. Sometimes your best isn't good enough. Such is life.

I would have no problem with another Coach Mo. He won a league title, finished in the top 3 more often than not, and took us to real postseason 6 times. He had a winning league record, and I believe a winning record in St. Louis. I don't think the owners of this board would have a problem with another Coach Mo either. They were and I believe remain close with him and I don't think were advocates of his dismissal.

.so tell which team has been so far superior to Bradley in St. Louis

I think these teams might have something that would be considered better.

2003 Creighton
2004 Northern Iowa
2005 Creighton
2006 Southern Illinois
2007 Creighton
2008 Drake
2009 Northern Iowa

They all won the tourney

Yes - I'm friends with Mo and wish him the best at WIU. Realize the NIT is playing by new rules. There are teams that win their conference but don't win their tourney that get invites now. That was not the case back in Mo's day. NEW rules.

Based on this logic, we should decline playing in the NCAA or NIT. That way, we could get to play more postseason games! Then! we can really run up those totals and look really impressive.

Bragging about the CBI/CIT games is similar to bragging about being the tallest midget.

Give me 1 NCAA game over 20 CBI/CIT/CWW/CBA/CBO/ETC tournament games anyday.

Can we maybe come up with an accurate formula for calculating meaningless post season tournament games? Maybe each game = 1/8 of a real game? Or maybe 1 CIT = 1/20 NCAA. That seems fair.

The Conference regular season ends... a conference champ is crowned... then the postseason begins!

Just because Arch Madness is on the schedule doesn't make it regular season....

And since someone asked... StL records since 2005-

BU 4-5
CU 8-3
DU 5-4
EU 1-5
InS 5-5
ISU 4-5
MSU 4-5
SIU 6-4
UNI 5-4
WSU 3-5
