well we did play a team with zero conference wins

sure, but consider this...there are some positive things that can be found.....

-NOBODY except Bradley has beaten Evansville this year at Evansville by 20 pts
-NOBODY has shot anywhere close to 62.5% against the Aces in Evansville (Butler only shot 28%)
-NOBODY since the beginning of the conference season has beaten Evansville by 20 either home or on the road
-BU has won 5 of their last 7 games, and only UNI has done as well or better
-over the past two games, BU is 13-29 (45%) from 3-pt range...nobody else is any better
-BU is the best 3-pt shooting team in the conference games, at 36.4%
-BU is the best rebounding team in Valley play at 35.3 rpg

I agree. Beating even Evansville by 20 on the road was very impressive, especially since their Evansville's last two games have been close.

I also agree that it was a great performance on the road, as long as we continue to pass the ball multiple times on offense and rebound and play defense we can beat any team in the league but we need to be the aggressor.

Why don't we have the best record?

Why don't we have the best record?
we play the toughest schedule...
consider this, had we played the softie schedule ISU or Creighton played, then we'd be 16-7 or 17-6, and probably even better in the Valley since they got to play 3 of their first 4 and 5 of their first 8 conference games at home, while we did the opposite...

Cheese and rice. Is anything ever good with you? Take a bundle of good, and respond with a negative.

i think as soon as we have more than 1 game this year at HOME where we play and shoot as well as we did Saturday, there will be more good cheer to spread around. So far, we only have Missouri St. That is the only good game from start to finish ALL SEASON at HOME. Show me and the negative nellies a 60 percent shooting night at HOME and you'll get your accolades. Until then, enough chirping about wins over D 3 schools. We have the least number of tiebreaker points simply because we haven't beaten ANYONE ahead of us in the standings or even in the top half. Beat somebody good and it's sunshine and rainbows!

Yes, things are great with me. I just think when you read that you think 'Wow, BU must be contending for the title, they lead the league in 3-pt percentage and rebounding (but not rebounding margin)'. Then I look up and we're 7-6 with 2 home losses, to a play-in team and another .500 team, and I ask 'Why?'. Hey - I am the guy that started the thread that we could win out, so don't paint me like I am some Negative Nelly. I just wonder how we can be so average when the numbers are supposedly so great...

We are what we are and in order to improve our lot right now there is plenty of work to be done. 7-6 is by no means close to being great. In fact only UNI comes close to being great and IMO they are not. The MVC is fairly average this year and besides Evansville not bad either. What makes WSU good is that they hustle and play hard otherwise they are quite pedestrian. When you look at the quality of play from a few conferences the Valley does not stand out and neither does this year BU squad. Can they turn it around? Well of course!

Agree with BU's overall record being hurt with tough pre season. Props to them for scheduling up. The Valley needs all their schools to do more of that. I suspect as other schools' coaches get to the kind of tenure JL has, they should schedule up more.

The tough preseason was supposed to help BU in the Valley. Jury is out on that one.

Re BU and their Valley record vis a vis their schedule, we'll see T. Depends on how BU does with the end of their schedule. Everyone plays the same schools home and home in the league by the time the season is over!

BU had the benefit of games in Brazil and their experiences in preseason to get ready for a tough start to their MVC season...

No more excuses!
