I wonder if it's any coincidence that Calhoun is leaving now when the team is 2-4 in the last 6 after they started 9-2 and ranked near the Top 10. I remember him passing out during a game during the Tourney last season. I wonder if the recent struggles and stress is getting to him.
Jim Calhoun Cheating Scandal yet to be reviewed by NCAA!!!
Jim Calhoun Cheating Scandal yet to be reviewed by NCAA!!!
Calhoun's UConn team is just another Big East team taking the rest of the spring off, as last night
they lost in the NIT to Virginia Tech 65-63...
But I thought Calhoun went especially out of his way to assure he blew this game for his own team..
picking up a technical for arguing a refs call on a foul when the UConn rebounder swung his elbows to "clear space".
His team led most of the game, by as much as 12...then just as Virginia Tech catches up, Calhoun's technical (with 16:03 left and a 1-pt ball game, 38-37)
led to the Hokies getting into the double bonus with over 16 min. left & then running off four straight to take a lead.....
Three times later in the game, being in the double bonus made all the difference in the world, as
Virginia Tech missed the front end but made the 2nd FT including twice in the final 2 min. http://articles.courant.com/2010-03..._1_uconn-bench-stanley-robinson-virginia-tech
Maybe this is following the Michael Jordan scenario........ Larger-than-life, hall of fame coach being strongly "encouraged" by the NCAA to disappear for awhile to let things blow over. In return, NCAA avoids investigating and creating a black eye for the game.
Maybe Calhoun will coach minor league baseball for a year or two.
