Same here. I think after a couple of very frustrating days of venting and analyzing what has happened to this team, I am resigned to the fact that we won't be going anywhere big in the postseason, outside of maybe the CBI/CI.com tourney.
I think much time was spent sulking and kicking ourselves after blowing so many close games. I'm sure the team, the coaching staff and the fan base has now accepted the fact that there is nothing we can do to make up for those lost opportunities. However, there is still time to play our way out of the play-in round of the Valley tournament and at least finish the season reasonably strong as a springboard to next year. We need to shoot for at least a .500 finish and some sort of consulation post season tourney to gain a bit more experience playing together. Yeah, I know we've been saying this the past two years, but heck, it's better than the alternative of finishing in last place and going nowhere. I at least would rather see this team staying competitive and at least finishing with a .500 record, which if for no other reason will look better than finishing 9-20.
It all starts on Wednesday. Forget even a .500 finish and an "alphabet soup" postseason tourney. We need to win this game against a bad Indiana St. team at home. We need this to be a confidence builder for the team, and we need this to be a game where we learn how to close out an opponent. This may not lead to a great season, especially with two more very difficult road games coming up, but at least this can help the team learn how to finish games, and what better opponent for them to do this. Hopefully the crowd will show up and at least be in this game to help them get over the hump.
