Postgame: BU 63 NIU 49

Ok... Obviously I was misunderstood. Let me explain it for ya.

In my first post on this thread, I stated "Bradley wins the 'trap game' ". A lot of people called it the 'trap game'. Back in the summer, I think Bradley Brave was the first. Others also called it the 'trap game' including MYSELF. Others were Bravesfan, DUBrave5, BU Rick, SFP, buballer82, and mrcoachdude (and maybe more). Now... I didn't hear the radio interview, but I guess Coach Les called it a 'trap game' on there too.

So - my first statement (again) was "Bradley wins the 'trap game' ".

Now - completely seperate from that statement.... there are some people who post on this board who get labeled Negative Nellies. I don't consider Coach Les, Bradley Brave, myself, Bravesfan, DUBrave5, BU Rick, SFP, buballer82, and mrcoachdude as Negative Nellies.

So - my 2nd statement (and 3rd and 4th) in my first post on this thread, I was asking for any comments from the Negative Nellies. But what's funny is... Negative Nellies only show up (or mainly show up) after we lose.

I hope that helps you understand my first post in this thread a little better. Maybe if you weren't so intent on "nit-pik'n-me-n-getn-me" you'd have seen the true intent in my post.

I thought that NIU could be a "trap game" as well. The team took care of business last night and we can all move on! :)

And what, pray tell, is wrong with being a "Nellie?"

Nothing wrong with being a Nellie, right Nellie. I'm defending the Nellies who have a right to be worried about a road game against a Div 1 opponent after a big win over Illinois.

Disagreeing isn't nit-picking.

speaking of negative Nellies, they are coming out of the woodwork at the Bluejay board and a few are piling onto P'Allen..
there's a few that thrive on the Saluki board as well....
Funny, those are the teams that are always at the top of the conference, going to the tourney and battling for the league championships...
I thought that would have eliminated the negative Nellies, but instead we see that they are just Nellies being Nellies...

DSE wasn't a GREAT shooter when he was at WCHS but was decent. He can get hot. One thing that helped his shot was working with Matt Roth's dad. If he keeps working on his shot and keeps developing the rest of his game he could be all MVC in years to come. IMO the offense runs very smoothly with him in the game, maybe more than SM and EM. Just an opinion though.

Another good win for what seems to be a BU team that is overachieving right, and no that's not a put down.

I really wouldn't categorize this team as overachieving!

'Negative Nellies' (realists?) only come out when there is something negative to post about! If BU is playing as well as the coaches keep telling us they are, and as well as we all hoped they could/would, everybody is happy!

Unfortunately many times in the past BU looked like it had turned the corner, with coaches getting players playing to their potential. 'NN' all bought into the Kool Aid and excited about BU returning to the top. Then presto, things go south, often against lessor foes. Leaving us frustrated and jaded. The first half of the NIU game was a scarry flashback...that fortunately turned out well for BU :D.

Didn't see/hear the game, why did Egoff only get 16 min? Let down from Illini game? Think he should be getting more min than that with AT next off the bench.

Hope MK develops quickly into a 10-15 min back up for TB, or, that JL gives a thought to AT and WE on the floor at the same time. TB is logging lots of minutes and with his style of play, and his role rebounding, would hate to see him get worn down as the year progresses. The four guard line up should not be used to spell TB!

Will was a bit ill I believe...hence the 16 minutes? That is just a guess...but a fairly educated guess....

And I would love to see Will and AT on at the same time with TB,AW,SM...... ok how many times have I said that :)

Disagreeing isn't nit-picking.

And from what you've said, I don't understand where we are disagreeing. I thought of the game as a 'trap game' - just like you did. Just like Les did. Just like other posters on here that I mentioned already.

I then went on to "comically" ask for comments from the Nellies. I know they show up when Bradley loses. Just wondering where they are at when we win. I can understand and maybe even agree with some negative comments brought forth by the Nellies. But they hardly show up when we win. Maybe you disagree with that? Maybe you believe the Nellies come out when we win as well as when we lose and that is where we disagree? But so I guess it seems like you are 'nit-pikn' me instead... rather than understanding what I said. How hard is it? I said Bradley won the 'trap game'. Agreeable? Yes? Then I wondered where the Nellies were after a win. So you must believe Nellies come out after a win (as well as a loss) and that is where we disagree. I just don't get it that you feel you have to challenge me on a regular basis - almost to the point that you are 'nit-pikn' me, putting words in my mouth that I did not say and making it look like you 'got-me'.

Again - I feel maybe I was misunderstood. I was worried about the game. I was worried about a letdown. I was worried about it being a 'trap game'. I also believe EVERY game is a big game. And then there is the issue of the Negative Nellies who woulda been all over this board had Bradley lost. But Bradley didn't lose. So no Negative Nellies. That's all I was making a post about.

I'm with ya on this Mac. This board sometimes gets eerily quiet after a win. Then, it suddenly explodes after a disappointing game with posters who I thought had died;)

And for the record Chico... IMO, the closest poster to be considered a Negative Nellie that posted in this thread is AZ BU Fan.

Thanks AZ BU Fan for showing up and giving props to BU winning a road game (which in the past has been a problem for Bradley) with a strong 2nd half that put the game away (for the most part) decisively. :)

I really wouldn't categorize this team as overachieving!

I would, you beat a good Illinois team. You are, at least thus far, exceeding expectations. Maybe they were underestimated... But I'd rather have a team that over achieves than a team than a team that just meets expectations and beats the teams they are supposed to beat.

I absolutley LOVE DSE and agree..the kid is going to be a REAL good one. One thing to keep in mind...Sam M. is probably operating at no more then 75% with that bum ankle.

It HAS to affect his shot and even his shot attempts as I see him passing up many open looks.

IMO...SAM is the man at point and will only solidify it if and/or when his ankle is healthy.

I don't believe you can find where I said the NIU game was a trap game. I mentioned Coach Les said it and he should know what one is with his experience. Now that you mentioned the posters who aren't Negative Nellies, how about mentioning the ones you believe are Negative Nellies. I'm sure they would like to know how bad a fan they are. You seem to believe that because you never say anything negative that you are more of a Braves fan than the rest of the posters. I thought this board was for opinions. I've disagreed with many on this board and heavan knows many disagree with me, but most of us are Bradley fans. I've yet to tell another poster to kiss it because we didn't share the same opinion.

I would disagree with this only from the sense that this BU team probably underachieved in every game except BYU, Illinois, and the second half of NIU. Let's hope the roll continues against WCU. If we win that game by 10+ then I will officially consider this BU ship back on course.

Now, if you want to say that this team is better than a 6th place Valley team and that we are over-achieving based upon predictions then I might agree with your definition. Howver, I think most on this board felt this BU team was a top 3-4 Valley team to begin with.

Wow.

Obviously you have a personal thing with me.

For the record... according to Chico, I MUST be a Negative Nellie. And as for all the other Negative Nellies - I don't need to name them.... like I said before - they know who they are.

Kiss it. ;)
