ACC/Big Ten

Is this the first year the Big Ten finally can take 6 of 11?

Monday
Penn State 69, Virginia 66
Tuesday
Wake Forest at Purdue
Northwestern at NC State
Maryland at Indiana
Michigan St. at UNC
Virginia Tech at Iowa
Wednesday
Illinois at Clemson
Minnesota at Miami
BC at Michigan
Duke at Wisconsin
Florida St. at Ohio St.

PSU taking the first helps and I think most of the home teams will prevail besides Duke who probably will take down the Badgers. As good as MichSt is, I don't see them taking down UNC tonight. That still should give the Big Ten 6 wins and the first challenge victory in 11 tries.

Can they really call it the ACC/Big Ten Challenge? The ACC has won every year so it does not seem like much of a challenge. In the last six years the ACC is ahead 42-20.

UNC is pretty young and they looked vulnerable in their previous game while I think Mich. St. returns a lot of its talent. So, they've got a good shot, I think.

I said earlier that I thought the ACC would mop up the B-10 once again this year. However, I have now come to the conclusion that this will be a MAJOR rebuilding year for the ACC and I now think the Big 10 will FINALLY prevail. My picks below.......

Maryland - Indiana game is a tight one so far. Indiana will have to remain hot from the 3 to win.

Northwestern just pulled the upset on NCST and won 65-53.

Purdue will likely hold on to their 65-49 lead with 1:50 left.

Indiana leads by 1, 51-50, with just over 10 mins left...

BIG TEN now has a 3-0 lead on the ACC in the Big Ten / ACC Challenge.

Purdue beats Wake at home 69 to 58.

With Indiana and Maryland playing in a very good game on ESPN 2.

I don't think I'd call Northwestern over NCSU an upset. This could potentially be the season that puts Sidney Lowe on a VERY hot seat.

Now, IU over Maryland WOULD be quite an upset...... but it's NOT gonna happen.

NCSU was favored by 6... upset

Could easily be 3-3 pretty soon. UNC is up on MSU early and seems to be the better team, Indiana is losing to Maryland with under 3 mins left, and Iowa is NOT going to beat Va Tech unless they somehow find a way to make a 3 point shot.

Make that a 3 to 1 Big Ten lead early in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Maryland beats Indiana 80 to 68.

MSU @ UNC on ESPN right now and later tonight Virgina Tech @ Iowa on ESPN 2.

I thought I'd heard talk of Northwestern losing their top player, and expectations (such as they are each year for NW) being lowered for what they could accomplish. Seems like they've managed to pick up a few solid wins so far in the early part of the season. Definitely a good win for the Big 10 to pick up in the challenge.

NW over NCSt regardless of the line was not an upset. I even said as much in an earlier post that I would not be surprised.

NC MSU game though really show cases the difference between the top 5 programs from the rest! Great talent from both teams.
