I ran across this comment in an interview with ex-Illini Dee Brown...

QUESTION: "Who had the most creative recruiting pitch?"

Dee: Iowa State sent me a media guide where they took a picture of my head and put it on Jamaal Tinsley's body on every page. He was a real good point guard and he wore No. 11 and so did I, so that was pretty creative.
But I'm glad I didn't end up there, with the situation that happened with their coach (Larry Eustachy).

Just thought everyone might be really anxious for the next Larry Eustachy followup....
Larry, as most know, made himself relevant to the Bradley board with a few choice comments to our fans,
and with snide and even threatening e mails sent to yours truly when I asked him about his really foul-mouthed behavior.
In the end, I e mailed the guy my phone number that he asked for when he promised to call me and respond, but the guy never called.
drat.....

Larry's Southern Miss team is presently 9-4....sounds pretty good, right??

well...three of those wins are against really horrible NAIA teams (Loyola College of Louisiana, William Carey, and Spring Hill).
Plus a couple more of the wins are against really ridiculously soft cupcakes (1-7 Alabama State, McNeese State) and NONE of the wins are even close to quality wins (RPI's of victims 269, 118, 205, 249, 160, 93).
Now they begin their conference season....
and here's the bad news.....
..........they have so many injuries that their main rotation of players who are getting any playing time is down to just six healthy guys.

but here's the really good news.....
.........Larry Eustachy is still on the wagon ...six years and counting now...

and some flashback threads...

Larry Eustachy in the news..........

He swings the ultimate mid-major package deal...

he lands TWO of the better juco players from Chipola, although they are not exactly game breakers...one, Torye Pelham, was even rumored to be one of the juco kids who might walk on at ISU!

then, suddenly, Larry lands as an assistant coach at Southern Miss, the head coach at juco powerhouse, Chipola, as his assistant at Southern Miss.

In other juco news, the head coach at Midland - where Alvin Brooks used to work - has left to take over as head coach at a DII juco school, then Midland hires the head coach at Paris Junior College.

I had read on salukitalk that Pelham and his coach were rumored to be a package deal... this sort of proves that rumor correct.

You'd have thought a package deal with Jamarcus Ellis or Mario Little would have been a better deal as those guys were Top rated juco kids
