NIU is playing tonight (Tues, 2/10) at home against Kent State-
The game was close throughout, and went 2 overtimes.
But Kent State pulled it out in the 2nd overtime 86-83 -

And you have to feel a little sorry for DePaul. They played at home against Seton Hall in one of their last chances to get a win this season in the Big East. DePaul has only 2 home games left after tonight- against St. Johns and Villanova. Their other 4 games are road games at #5 Louisville, #4 Pitt, at West Virginia, and at Georgetown. Unless they can beat St. Johns, it looks like a winless season looming.

Seton Hall clobbered DePaul tonight 72-49, the Blue Demons' 12th loss in a row. -

Column about DePaul's loss last night to Seton Hall. DePaul's AD has said Jerry Wainwright's job is safe, but this column reports an attendance of only around 2,500. It sounds like they all want the coach fired.
Note some of the reader comments at the bottom-

Wainwright is as good as gone after the season ends...expect an announcement the day after DePaul loses in the 1st round of Big East tournament.

Despite the improvements at Chicago State and Western Illinois, there is still some poor basketball played at some of the Illinois D1 schools.

DePaul lost today at Louisville by 45 points, 99-54. I saw this one coming. Louisville is coming off a 90-57 buttwhipping by Notre Dame and wanted to make a statement to the Big East and the NCAA, while DePaul had a 12 game losing streak, and was coming off a 33 point loss to a lousy Seton Hall team and appears to have just about quit for the season.

Northern Illinois beat Akron 83-79 to move to 6-16, and 2-8, and avoid dropping into a tie for the worst record and last place in the MAC.

Eastern Illinois lost Saturday night to Eastern Kentucky 73-55 for their 3rd loss in a row, to drop to 6th place in the Ohio Valley.

By the way, provisional D1 SIUE halted University of South Dakota's 15 game winning streak last night with a 73-68 upset, to improve to 9-15.-

Illinois sure seems to have more mediocre to poor teams in D-1 than good.

What D-1 team in Illinois would be considered good?

How many of the 12 eligible NCAA Tourney teams will be dancing?

My guess is 1.
