BU loses 61-58

Definitely a heartbreaking loss ...

But if you enjoy good basketball, this was a really entertaining game. Honestly, I thought we were a middle of the pack team going into conference play and we admirably outperformed that to start MVC action.

The two big injuries are starting to catch up with us and as it has been said before, we don't have a go to guy (or a bunch of them, like UNI has). Considering all that has happened this season, I think we're still at least "meeting" an expectation I had going into conference play. I'll be angry if we fall lower but I truly think that we'll be between 3-6 depending on how we do against Drake (2), Evansville (2) and Creighton.

I never really try to plug my blog, but I wrote about the game (as I do with every one) if you want to hear more of what I had to say. (see my signature)

Nice write-up, BUBraves 2006.

Congrats to SM....the 19 pts was a career high.....I did not know that! The 10 t/o's tonight were also a plus...we just couldn't score at the end or stop them!

I know it was a bad loss, but the world hasn't ended. We lost a close one to the first place team in the league and showed that we belong in the top tier.. This season isn't cooked yet, so stop jumping off the bridge and pulling the classic Cub fan (can't wait til next year). There's a conference season to finish and a tournament to play....

That said, UNI plays really, really well together. Their monster (Jordan E) is a tough stop, and they really knocked down the clutch shots... I hate when we play not to lose rather than to win, but several guys had good games.

They also brought the two most annoying fans of all time to sit behind their bench tonight. I don't think they were relatives, but they're the kind of guys who should make any UNI fan ashamed of their fan base. One guy was trying to pick fights with us all night and the other was the kind of guy who goes to undergrad bars at the age of 40 in hopes of picking up college girls. Both smarmy and disgusting.. I hope we don't put people like that behind the bench at other arenas.

One problem I have with Jim Les's coaching is how bad we are at the end of games. We are terrible going into the last few minutes with a lead! We run the shot clock down under 10 and then someone takes a bad shot if we even get a shot off. With a big lead thats not such a big deal but in a game like tonight it cost us the game. Why not just stick to playing like we were when we got the lead!

That monster isn't gonna make it through 3 games in 3 days. He hit a couple stretches last night where he was plain beat tired and was anxious for his breather.

We flat out blew that game last night because our offense is not good, we did not score 60 points at home which speaks for itself, nothing against Sam M. as he is a good player but he is our go to guy now and the opposing teams are making it tougher at the end of the game for him to get a good shot, even though our defense was not good the last 3 minutes of the game N.Iowa only scored 61 points , I know defense wins games but you have to be able to score at least 70 points at home against a good team. Jim Les"s teams are starting to look more like Mo"s teams when you watch our offense struggle to get a decent shot off before the shot clock expires, our last 4 possessions last night on offense cost us the game as we were unable to score.

I never thought I would be asking this question but where was DC at the end of the game? He was playing like a man posessed in the 2nd half tonight but never played the last 8 or 9 minutes. Just maybe if he continued to play the last 6 minutes like he did for most of the first 11 or 12 minutes we would have won.
By far the best I have seen him play and even people around me said they never thought they would here me say we need to get DC back in the game, but he was the reason we got the lead in the first place. We need to ride that horse when he is running like he did tonight.

We were wondering the same thing and a guy next to me said he saw DC limping and thought he might have twisted an ankle or something....I also wanted him back in!

Was that right after he dove for that rebound as the ball was going out of bounds???

Exactly right realfan!

Exactly right realfan!

You took the words right off my keyboard realfan. JL has these kids playng hard, but for maybe the first time since he got here as coach, we just don't have any real go to guys on offense. Great defense will only get you so far at this level, you have to be able to score some points, and these last two games are indicitive of what's in store for us the rest of the way if someone doesn't step up and start putting the biscuit in the basket.

When did we start playing DI hockey?
