Predictions about the BU/SIU game

I don't know how the game will turn out, but I thought I would check what some are saying.......

Here are a few predictions..........

From the salukitalk.net board:

They have a poll going, 67% think SIU will win.

Even though the majority favor a Saluki win, most posters think the game will be tough and they are definitely not confident about winning in Peoria.

(there are a couple of inevitable Ferrari jokes!)

One thread discusses the possibility of what next if they do lose

From the new Bradley board...almost universally they pick SIU,
except for one lone guy.... ;)

I'll take SIU's D over BU's lack of consistent offense.....64-59

I hate to say this, but I'm afaid the Salukis are going to lay one on the Braves. My guess is that it will end up kind of like the Butler game (minus the 20-4 run to start the game).

At this point in the year, and with BU's lack of development and progress, I say SIU is going to be able to dictate tone and tempo to the Braves.
64-42 SI
U

SIU by 15, this game should not be close.

SIU by double digits.

.....SIU by 15 at least. Dead serious.

But the salukis won't win big.

SIU wins this one pretty big i think, 10-15.

so there you have it.....BU must be the underdogs as just about everyone, even the guys on the Bradley board are picking SIU.

I will be the first to admit BU has been very inconsistent thus far......
but I think if anything motivates our guys it is the chance to start the Valley season 1-0 at home against SIU....

I am looking for a better game than we have seen recently...
Mullins will play hard in his last visit to Carver, but our rookies will match theirs.........
chould be close, whoever hits the shots will win.

Pick-BU looking good.

I have a feeling we'll throw in a few new wrinkles and JL will have this team playing well tomorrow sort of like the Richmond game. If the team can keep itself from being stuck on a number and not turn the ball over we should be able to win by 8-10 points. If we start trying to shoot the 3, not go inside and play sloppy we will not win and we'll lose by 8-10. So will the real Badley Braves please stand up. This should be interesting because this wil give us our first true indication what this tam is made of. The season is just really beginning folks.

Here is the Vegas line- these guys must know nothing compared to the experts here-

Bradley is 2.5 point favorite-

The line doesn't really mean who Vegas thinks will win the game. I think there has been this discussion before on here- but Vegas just sets the line to attempt to get equal action on the game. Not really arguing a point... just throwing that out there..

Both teams have been inconsistent so it appears to be one of those games that BU is favored by around 3 at home...if it was a neutral court... it would probably be pick'em... at SIU it would probably be the Dawgs by around 3...

For what it's worth- I think you guys will eek out a win...something like 64-61.

RF21 - I agree. But IMO - I think the line is outta line right now. To me, that means a ton of people are gonna jump on SIU. And the line will then move. And in the past, when bettors have been "all over" a "lock"... the house tends to win. I know - I know... it's crazy. I have been amazed at results after seeing lines and shook my head thinking there is no way... but there it is. Btw - "Please hold all tickets til results are final". ;)

Hopefully some of our guys asked Santa for some better touch from the free throw line. SIU struggles on offense like we do and other than Mullins don't play as good as defense as they have over the last few years. If we can be on the plus side of the assist/tournover ratio and can shoot at least 70% from the FT line we'll win. I've said it before. This team has no margin for error and if we don't do these little things we won't win. I look for BU to pull away late and win 65-57.

As I said previously, we put Sam on Mullins and we may as well pack it in...otherwise yes we do have a shot at this one given how poorly SIU plays on the road...

The biggest 2 things will be if the game is called tight on SIU allowing us to get to the line; part two is obviously what we do once we get to the line...

If we shoot in the 50's FT % we will lose...no doubt about that one...

I'm looking for big games from Theron and one of our shooting guards, either Dodie, Darian, or Chris.

If we can get that and get just a little inside while limiting those of the supporting cast around Fay and Mullins we win.

Even though BU has not played well lately I have a hard time understanding why SIU is thought of so highly as they are not a good team either; BU 62 SIU 55

As I stated on the other board BU wins if they score over 70 if not SIU wins.In any event the difference will be less than 10

I am, unfortunately, not thinking of anything we do so well that should result in this win. It is not impossible for us to win, but I am a simple fan and do not have that "one thing" to hang my hat on.
I could hope we start hitting our shots, but SIU has nullified our more effective O's the last few meetings..
Perhaps if we cause enough turnovers to fluster another young (SIU) team?

Jim Les himself said this on the post game show...at the end of his interview..
"it's a once every ten year thing that you're gonna beat SIU this badly and be up on them by 27 points. We played a good game..."

We play them at least one more time this year ;)
