I just want to make sure I have this straight - the average BU fan will only accept blowouts over teams they perceive as weak, wins over teams they perceive as their peers (Butler, UW-M) and wins or close games against ranked teams (MSU, UF). It just strikes me funny that going into the games with the above mentioned four teams everyone seemed to talk in a realistic middle ground about BU's chances of a win given their current team make-up and status (Notice I didn't mention injuries because any mention of having quality players injured is an "excuse").
Yet once the game is over and the expected result occurs people seem to go to extremes on both sides of the coin - some are the National Guard guy from Animal House screaming, "everything is OK" while being stampeded and others are hanging JL in effigy, willing to throw the deepest bench reserve in to the mix to get something to change and taking any positive comments made either pre-season or post-game as a slap in the face as though they have been misled to their own detriment over the prospects of this young team.
I just don't get the rift on this board - Folks it's College Basketball, sometimes kids play better than expected (U of I right now) and sometimes they don't play up to snuff, but we watch because we like the school or even out of habit for some of us.
Sure I wasn't completely happy with the way they won last night, but having participated in athletic endeavors my whole life really it only matters who's ahead when the clock hits 00:00. In four weeks they will be in the middle of the conference season and this game will be a vague memory except for the W. I guess to me following the Braves is for fun, I do it as a time filler, a get away and have lived through the good & the bad. It just seems that some of you guys take this far to seriously and way to personally.
Sorry if this post offends anyone, but it just seemed some common sense was needed.
