ALL is well now...

wily coyote,

Pleasse tell any of the officials you might know that judgment is important and the rule books are not relevant. ;)

I'm not a doctor, but I did break my nose during a basketball season back in the day. I was able to play right away without a mask or anything. After I had the surgury a week later, I was out for a couple of weeks and had to return with a mask.

A few years ago my son broke his nose during the State Farm classic.

He came out for a few mintues and then went in and finished the game.
Played two more games that weekend and has surgery the next week and missed out on one game. Probably depends on the person.
He tried the mask but couldn't deal with it.

You open the shirt to expose the skin for a defib. also...as I stated I left as I saw he was in good hands and thats why I stated it APPEARED they were doing or going to start CPR. They were doing all the prelim stuff like watching his breathing, checking his pulse.....but I left and never actually witnessed any CPR.

He was on the ground, flat on his back for at least 20 minutes and and was placed on a cart after that. He wasn't sitting up on the ground under his own power. They CERTAINLY could have performed CPR then placed him on the gurney for transportation.

Again, I hope and pray he is OK.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, they could have been performing CPR. As I said, I was not there, just trying to clarify what I read from the standpoint of an EMT, and am not trying to argue with you. The only thing that would strike me as odd, being an EMT registered in the Peoria Medical System, is that protocol for a cardiac arrest, i.e. the only time CPR is appropriate, is to start CPR and haul a**, to the nearest hospital. Being so close to a level 1 trauma center, it would be foolish for me, or any EMT to waste 20 precious minutes onscene with a critical patient when I am that close to the hospital. Thus, to me, and in my experience, this sounds like the same protocol i would follow for a patient having a heart attack. Depending on blood pressure, I would have them sit up, lie down, or have their feet raised, push some drugs via IV, get a monitor reading, then head to the hospital.

Also, many monitors that are used in the pre-hospital setting are also defibrillators, in fact the one i use one my patients is. I hook it up and it says "Press Charge to Shock Patient" which really gets me a weird look from a conscious patient. :) Then I assure them I am just looking at the monitor. So we are both technically correct on the point of why the shirt was opened.

I hope and pray that this person makes a full and speedy recover.

That sounds about the same for me, except it was the Cornjerker Classic. There was a lot of blood on my jersey, but it really didn't hurt, so I played the rest of the game.

When I did have the mask after the surgery, I kept taking it off beause I couldn't see much and it was wierd to run with. They ended up giving me some plastic thing that they taped on my nose.

i for one am not pleased

they played too much in spurts, were up 14 at haltime but then with 18:20 left in the second half were only up 7 you cannot do that against teams like Creighton, SIU or ISU.

SEMO is/was terrible. They didnt even make shots in warmups.

Our opponent seems like they always have a guy score 20 on us.

When they gave up the quick 7-0 run to start the half, I call a timeout Jim Les. Your trying to prove to your guys that not putting in 110% is going to get you benched, well i believe that is the perfect opportunity to send that message. Pull all there butts (lack of a better word) out of the game.

I was thinking the same thing! We won and for that I am happy but as warren5 said if we pull what we did to start the 2nd 1/2 against a better team we're in for a long evening. I'm sure JL is addressing this and a bunch more things. I bet he is not to happy once he looks at game film of some of the silly TOs and lack of defense occasionally. We are still allowing players to take us baseline. This is as simple as puting your feet on the baseline and not allowing them that space. SS is great at this but know one else seems to use the baseline as an extra defender. Let the guy head to the middle where the weakside help should be.
