I thought this deserved a separate thread because the PJStar has a lot of good coverage and analysis from last night's game. Click at your own risk (ahme, Mob, ahem! ;))

Thanks Scouter. No need to click. Someone actually left a newspaper for me. :D
I read Reynolds and I want to thank Dave for providing nice coverage. As for the other guy.... I won't waste my time - I don't care for anything he has to write. :-P

Sometimes KW has some good columns, and this one is one of them. I don't think he was hypercritical of Les, just had some valid concerns like all of us do. I'm confident we will turn this around soon.

Of course playing a 1-6 SEMO team will go a long way too! :)

Wow. Could be a great move for KW to get a job working in Indy.

I'll even give him a personal reference . Oh it would be so sad to see him go.....

You know I'd probably like KW's articles if every once in awhile he would take the high road on our program. He just loves to take a poke at it when he can. I do not mind when he holds the program to a higher standard but please do not misconstrue the facts and make BU look bad when in fact BU runs a very good program with the resources at its disposal.

Kirk Wessler appears to be highly admired in Indianapolis...
Peoria columnist on Butler's program

Watch for Wessler to write a really nice fluff article praising the Southeast Missouri State basketball program and have it printed in the Southeast Missourian newspaper, right after his next hit piece on Bradley.
After that, I understand he is in touch with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel about a puff-piece praising the UW-Milwaukee program for next weekend.

I doubt Wessler would even write a nice article about the Braves if the program matched Butler's results in the last 40 some games. If the Braves went to Butler losing 4 starters and going with 3 freshman, 1 sophmore and 1 junior and scored 87 points on the road, he would probably write a negative article about the Braves. I think for the fans who wear the rose colored glasses it is good that after this game he did write about the Bulldogs! :-P

I am sure that both teams have them.

Why do you think Wessler wrote a positive article about the Butler program? Because he hates everything about Bradley. Because he is sensitive to the fans who don't want anything negative written about Bradley. Because he likes to read the messages of posters who don't like what he writes. ;)

Maybe it's because he likes to stir up dissent on the Bradley fan message board.8)
Maybe if we keep posting the same message that we don't like the defense Bradley plays, that will fix things.:D

I think Wessler has much less affect on what is written on the message board than the play on the floor.

I agree that posting about the defense won't fix it. I also think fixing it, will stop the posting about it. I think questioning the defense without calling out players and coaches meets the posting rules of the board..yes?

It shouldn't take a genius to figure out why KW wrote that column about Butler. Maybe because he obviously hates Bradley. Or maybe because Bradley and Butler have similar programs with similar teams, especially this season as they're both playing a lot of youngsters a lot of minutes.

One team has played very well this season. The other ... not so much. The team that's played well this season came to Carver Arena, put up 87 points and waxed the home team. That team looks poised to make (another) run to the NCAA tournament. The other team ... well, who knows where it's going right now? Seems like it's been stuck in neutral for a while.

Yes, of course I knew that, but what use would it be if we couldn't make a little fun out of it?

I don't know, but I'm a little worried that Butler appears to be in better shape than Bradley right now. Doesn't seem like a laughing matter to me.

IMO Butler recruited their Freshmen to play right away because they lost so much from last season. I don't think Coach Les intended for ours to get as much playing time as they are getting, but have to because of the injuries. Should help in the long run.
