Is SEMO a threat?

Gosh typing that thread title seemed a bit silly but wait.

Yeah, I know SEMO has not won a lot of games but they aren't getting blown out in all of 'em either.

I feel like every thing is up in the air right now with Bradley, could SEMO come in and sneek out a win?

Anything is possible.

I don't really know what to expect from the Braves at this point.

Unfortunately, it's not completely out of the question at this point. I would have never expected to lose to UMKC, but that happened, so you just never know. When the Braves play poorly, they could fall victim to anyone. Of course, they could also come out and play like the did against Richmond or like the did in the first 10 minutes of the MSU game and beat SEMO by 25.

I guess if you can say one thing about the 08-09 Braves so far, it's that they'll keep you guessing.

If memory serves we lost to these guys a couple years ago.

They have one of the nicesest facilities in the OVC.

This is a team has had to deal with alot of distractions, but traditionaly SEMO is a top half OVC team, for whatever that is worth.

BU lost to SEMO in 2000, and many used that loss to accelerate the Molinari firing process. Nevermind SEMO was an NCAA Tournament team that nearly beat LSU in the tournament.

A threat to what? National security? SEMO is a threat to nothing. The only thing we threaten is ticket sales. Endowment be d@mned!

No. This is silly. SEMO is horrible.
They have been getting blown out all season long...
They lost to New Mexico by 43.
They lost to K-State by 20.
They lost to Iowa by 24.
They lost to Oakland University by 18.
They lost to Austin Peay by 24.
They lost to Tennessee State by 11.

They are 2-7 with wins over Culver-Stockton and Longwood. They just lost to Western Illinois...and we should be worried? Really?

How anyone can seriously be worried about this game is beyond me...There were threads discussing BU's NCAA at-large chances before the Butler game...and now are we actually going to discuss whether we should be worried about losing to a celler dweller from the OVC? C'mon.

We must be thinking of different SEMO teams. They are not traditionally a top half of the OVC team.

SEMO won the OVC in 1999-2000...but since then, their results in their conference have not been good.

Their conference records since 2000...
8-8 in 00-01...5th out of 9 teams.
4-12 in 01-02...8th out of 9 teams.
5-11 in 02-03...7th out of 9 teams.
4-12 in 03-04...10th out of 11 teams.
9-7 in 04-05...5th out of 11 teams.
4-16 in 05-06...10th out of 11 teams.
9-11 in 06-07...6th out of 11 teams.
7-13 in 07-08...9th out of 11 teams.

They may have nice facilities...but they are a lousy team that has struggled to be competitive with anyone so far this year...There is no need to try and find some reason to be worried about this game...This should be a mismatch of epic proportions....pure and simple.

Glad you posted this ER3 - I have a funny feeling that the JV team that finished the Butler game will start this next game against SEMO. With what you put up there I have a feeling they should be ok. Honestly, I think that it wouldn't matter who was playing them on Sun, I wouldn't want to be the team facing them after the last few days in practice. I'm betting they come out super aggressive.

They have been picked to finish 8th this season in the OVC.

I understand the question, but at this point improvement in fundamentals, defense, blocking out for rebounds, following shots, making free throws, energy, and intensity on a consistent basis is what is needed. When these issues get fixed, the wins will take care of themselves. I also don't care who starts or plays as long as they do the things that make teams winners. If the scholarship players can't lay it on the line against MSU in the 2nd half and against Butler in the 1st 4 minutes of the game.....play the walk-ons. Fundamentals and intensity will make up for a lot of weaknesses.

BU lost to SEMO in 2000, and many used that loss to accelerate the Molinari firing process. Nevermind SEMO was an NCAA Tournament team that nearly beat LSU in the tournament.

Anyone else remember that game? Bradley was down 18 with three and a half minutes to go and ended up shooting free throws for a tie with 45 seconds left. But they failed to tie it and ended up loosing 65-60.

Honestly - I don't recall THAT being the thing accelerating Mo's firing process.

I also wanna add... that loss was in December of 1999. Mo got fired after in 2002. 2 1/2 years later. So a loss in Dec of 1999 accelerated the process to get him fired 2 1/2 years later.... and we can look back to THAT game as the thing that accelerated it.

Anything less than a 20 point win will be a disappointment to me. Have to really come out and clobber a cupcake to get some of our play sets down and whatever else needs tweaked. Free Throw % also has to be over 70% to have me convinced that progress is being made.

Thanks for diggin up some stats. I can't argue with the numbers. Their finishing position in the OVC really is not that good.

I really thought they were a better team than that.

yeah we should handle them pretty easily.
