There isn't an option for the Bah-humbugger's. Economy good or bad - I don't spend a lot of money on Christmas.

I usually do not spend a lot during X-mas either at least compared to others. I like to give a little to a good cause, buy presents for my immediate family and that's about it. This coming year I have some business projects that will cost me a ton to start up and with funding the way it is I'll have to self fund.

Now my reality check of the economy happened last evening when I went out for dinner and drinks with some reasonably wealthy guys who have made a ton the last few years and they were all cutting back their spending.

If there are any Angel Investors out there, I have a great project to invest in.;)

I think you all should go out and buy a new domestic car or truck.....maybe even two of them. If you need help in the selection let me know;):D

T, you should add an option for those of us students who are broke already whether the economy is thriving or not. :)

lol, gotta love that.... I have to save up spare dollar bills to buy beer at the game. Or put it on the plastic and let future me worry about it.

Do you have buy one get one free over there?;-) Just kidding...:)

I know how the car business is from a different vantage point... The big 3
make fine cars.

I might, other than the fact that I don't have to spend much anyway-- Just three nieces, the fiancee, and the immediate family.

Also that this is the season to forgive and forget can someone reach out to DallasBrave and see if he'll consider coming back. I miss his posts!

he got bummed about BU's loss to UMKC and said he was taking time off,
I am unaware it had to do with any posts...

I thought it had to do with censorship myself.

I spoke with DB about a month ago, and he said he would return to the Board after taking some time to put BU basketball back in proper perspective. He also indicated a desire to come to Peoria for a game or two later this year (perhaps the Creighton game).

I can think of someone who might be able to hook DB up with a ticket for the Creighton game... and it'll be close to the action too.:-P:lol:

I have to admit, the lousy economy, the drop in my retirement account, along with everyone else's, just depress me if I think about it. So I am spending more this year. It's a good cure for depression.:D

You better keep shopping DC... I just got this report from my broker which is pretty interesting and sad at the same time....

"This year, some investors??”particularly owners of equity mutual funds??”could be faced with unexpected tax liabilities. ???A number of investors may be surprised to receive capital gains distributions this year,??? says Vinay S. Navani, principal in the accounting firm Wilkin & Guttenplan in East Brunswick, N.J. ???That??™s because many funds have had to sell long-term holdings to raise capital to pay investors who??™ve cashed out.??? That leaves fund investors in an uncomfortable position. Because of the way mutual funds are structured, profits on these transactions are passed along to shareholders, who must declare the gains on their tax returns. At the same time, however, the value of fund assets may decline, so investors who continue to hold fund shares could face tax bills as well as a shrinking portfolio."
