--after a couple unimpressive exhibition outings, Tyrone Cole-Scott has caught fire.
Playing for Tarleton State (DII in TX), he has started their first three regular season games and is averaging a team leading 17.3 ppg, and has hit on 11-22 (50%) of his 3-pt attempts. His high game was 28 pts, nailing 8-12 from beyond the arc.

--Shang Ping has started both of Emporia's games but is only averaging 4 ppg, 2 rpg.

--DeAaron Williams is starting at Northern Kentucky and averaging 5 pts, 3 rebs per game. ex-Saint Louis Billiken Dustin Maguire is averaging 28 ppg.

--Jeremy Fears

plays for the Kapfenberg Bulls who are tied for 1st at 4-1, with Jeremy averaging 17.7, but he had a great game of 38 points.

--Lance Stemler is in the Pro B league in Germany with the Telemotive Muenchen team, averaging a team 2nd best 15.4 ppg/7.3 rpg
this is the level beneath the Pro A league where Daniel Ruffin plays, and two notches below the Bundesliga where will Franklin & Jeremy Crouch play.
Franklin is averaging 12.2 ppg, Crouch 3 ppg.
DRuf's Teckpro Braves are 4-4 and Ruffin is leading the team with 15 ppg, 3.5 apg.

--JJ Tauai plays for Panevezys Techasas, they are 2-5, and JJ is averaging 11 ppg, 3 rpg.

--Ryan Thornton plays for IUS (Illinois-Springfield) and they are 5-0!
Ryan has played in 3 games and averages just under 1 ppg, and is 0-4 from 3 pt.

--Finally, the one I am sure everyone is waiting for....
Cameron Sweatman...asked for his release from Bradley and accepted a scholarship to D-I Lipscomb. But he found that even though he had never played at Bradley, the rules would still require Cameron to sit out the entire 2008-2009 season as a transfer, so he left Lipscomb and went to North Central College (DIII) in Naperville.
He was planning to play this season, BUT----
the roster does not include his name so I am not sure what is going on.
oddly, the North Central College basketball roster has 31 players listed!!

More-----

Iman Shumpert at Georgia Tech, started their first game, played 18 minutes, looked a little shaky at times, but overall had a nice game, 7 pts, 6 rebs, 2 asst., no turnovers.

Matt Roth at Indiana, has not started since the exhibition games, plays 21.5 minutes per game, 10.5 ppg, 40% FG shooting, 38.5% from 3-pt, no assists, 1.5 rpg.

Lewis Jackson at Purdue, started one of three games, avg. 22 minutes per game, 4 ppg, 3 rpg, 3 apg. 0-4 from 3-pt range.

Devin Hill at DePaul, one game, 13 minutes, no points, 0-1.

Wesley Witherspoon at Memphis, in 4 games, 17.8 minutes per game, 6.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2 TO/gm

Daniel West - deemed ineligible at Tennessee...not playing.

Nick Freundt, played a total of only six minutes so far in 2 games at Northwestern, avg. 1 ppg, only taken 1 shot.

Dwight Buycks - 16 ppg for Indian Hills juco

Steffphon Pettigrew - started both games for Western Kentucky, 1-8 and only 2 pts vs. DII Campbellsville, and 11 pts. vs. Houston.

Scott Suggs - At Washington- played in only one game, had 8 min. vs. Florida International, 0-2 & scoreless, and did not play against Cleveland State

Zach Novak - has played in all four games at Michigan as a deep sub, averaging 2 ppg, only 2-8 overall and 1-5 from 3-pt., 5 TO

Kyle Kuric - At Louisville- has not yet played in the regular season, hurt his knee in an exhibition and may be done for the season.

LA Pomlee - played some in the exhibition games at Iowa State, did not look good. Has NOT played even ONE minute in any of Iowa State's first 3 regular games, possibly this means he is going to redshirt.

Xavier Crawford - 3 games for Cal State-Northridge, started one of them, avg...3.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, in 13 minutes/gm

Devin Hill will be sorry he didn't take his visit here before its all said and done, don't think he will be happy there!

Someone I know in the Iowa St. basketball program said definitively that LA Pomlee is a long way away from being an impact D-I player and will redshirt this year.

That Cameron Sweatman situation is an intriguing one. I can understand that he wants to play, but if you go from being a walk-on at Bradley who never saw the floor, to having a scholarship at a D-1 school in Lipscomb, why would you leave? It seems a bit silly to me.

the claim of a scholarship offer from Lipscomb came from a Springfield paper's phone interview with Sweatman's father....so I have my doubts....as parents tend to sometimes exaggerate when boasting about their kids...plus it really doesn't sound too realistic!

Here are a couple other followups of varying kinds..........

--Oklahoma City College, likely the best NAIA school in the nation - and ranked #1 in the NAIA rankings, has ex-Illini Rodney Alexander, ex-Hoosier Jamarcus Ellis, and ex-Bobby Knight player from Texas Tech Ricardo De Bem (a previous 4-Star center).
OCC is 5-0 with an average margin of victory of 20 points.
...Alexander is averaging 19.2 ppg, 7 rpg
...Ellis is averaging 15.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4 asst./gm, making 57.1% of FG attempts, and 82% on FT's.
...De Bem is averaging 7.6 ppg, 6 rpg.

--Wisconsin Platteville is now 4-0, inclding their win over Bradley and their other 3 wins have been 29 point, 35 point, and 38 point blowouts!!
I think before the season is over those people who claimed no DIII is as good as a DI will be eating crow.
BTW-- in the DIII rankings, Platteville was unranked in the preseason but has jumped all the way to #7 in the first in-season raning and is already getting first place votes!

--Lewis is 3-1 with a close loss (68-65) on the road at Hillsdale. Hillsdale is good and blew out Indianapolis Univ. by 20 at Indianapolis.

--Tarleton State goes to 4-0 with a 83-67 win over Texas A&M-International.
Tyrone Cole-Scott had an off night (does he have off-nights??) and only had 6 pts, 6 rebs in 36 min, and was 2-8 and 0-3 from 3-pt.
Even with the bad game, Tyrone was named Fifth Annual Texan Tip-Off Classic's Most Valuable Player after averaging 17.0 points per game this weekend.

DeAaron, dunks included, is averaging 8 ppg.

--I have inquired and it appears Rashad Austin is NOT playing anywhere at present.

--last night for Emporia, Shang Ping started, played 22 min., had 4 pts, 4 turnovers, 4 fouls, 7 rebs.
Ping is averaging 4.3 ppg, 3.7 rpg.

--Wisconsin football got a late TD in overtime to turn back upset minded Cal-Poly 36-35 after trailing nearly the entire game.
Illinois loses to Northwestern after losing last week to OSU and the week before to Western Michigan.
Indiana football loses 62-10 to go 1-9 in their last 10 FB games, including losses to Central Michigan & Ball State.
So what the hey is going on with Big Ten football?

Ex-Brave Jeremy Fears has left his pro team in Kapfenburg, Austria after a couple fine years averaging over 17ppg
and has now signed with the same Greek pro team that Patrick O'Bryant was with, Kavala.

Daniel West - deemed ineligible at Tennessee...not playing...

the saga of one-time BU commit Daniel West seems neverending...
while some of the other names in this thread like Nick Fruendt, Matt Roth, Xavier Crawford, Dwight Buycks... - have long since finished up their college careers and graduated...
oddly Daniel West is still playing...and it appears he will even play again next year - very unusual...

-Recall - he verballed to Bradley in October of 2006
-at the beginning of his senior high school year, fall of 2007 - he decommitted from Bradley with rumors he was not going to be academically qualified
-then after his team won 2 straight State Titles, he graduated and went to Tennessee in fall of 2008
-he was declared ineligible for the 2008-09 season but stayed at Tennessee with Bruce Pearl.
-then at the start of the 2009-10 year he was booted by Pearl for academics
-so he went to Pensacola Junior College and put up some decent stats.
-He got his juco degree then chose to play at Rhode Island
-he played only a few games there then got booted once again in 2011..
-then he transferred to University of Texas-Permian Basin, a DII school...
he did not play until this past year....2013-14...
and his roster page says he is still just a junior -- so just perhaps he may play next year, too!

http://lionathletics.com/roster.aspx?path=mbball

thus if he is just a junior and he plays next year - his college career will span from fall of 2008 through spring of 2015!!

the saga of one-time BU commit Daniel West seems neverending......

Not sure I understand how he accomplished a 7-8 year college career, but....

One time Bradley commit, Class of 2008 DANIEL WEST - who verbaled to Bradley in October of 2006...MORE THAN EIGHT YEARS AGO!
https://usc.rivals.com/barrier_noentry.asp?sid=995&script=/content.asp&cid=597449

Amazingly, WEST IS STILL PLAYING IN COLLEGE!!!

As most know - he didn't have the academics to get admitted to Bradley, so he went to Tennessee, waited out a year then went to a couple jucos, then bounced around to 3-4 other 4-yr schools, finally playing this past couple seasons at Texas A&M Commerce.

Well he played last night in the Texas A&M-C exhibition against Texas A&M - and it was a really close game with Texas A&M-Commerce leading in the 2nd half
but Texas A&M pulling it out late 80-71.

Daniel West will finish up his career at Texas A&M-Commerce next spring - 2015, but by then he will have somehow accomplished the longest college career I have ever heard of..

NINE years from his college commitment 'til he finished college
SEVEN full years from when he first entered college - LINK

We've had a few kids get 6th year waivers - but Daniel West is the only kid I have ever heard of that got the OK to play seven years in college!

BTW - BU recruit Peyton Allen - who is more than 6 years younger than Daniel West - had a nice game...
He was 3-8 & 3-7 from behind the arc, 11 pts, 2 rebs, 1 asst.
