SIU looks like the same team we have seen over the last 2 years; good defense but has trouble on offense; BU could have problems trying to defend their 2 big men .
What?? Evans is only in the game because of the fouls on all the other big guys. He has a couple buckets but he is inexperienced, fouls every time he defends someone, and can't hit FT.
Well, UIUC wins on the road 69-63.
But they're on the floor! And yes....Fay is way ahead of Egolf/Thompson.
No matter how you slice it SIU will be a tough game and they will be much better team come March. I also think their O is going to be much improved this year. There were also a few questionable fouls that went Duke's way when the game was close. Also if we are going to win both our games against SIU we will have to hit the outside shot, period. So far our 3 point shooting is a concern of mine until AW returns.
Also, the refs in this game did not let the teams hand check and if the Valley refs allow hand checking when we play SIU it will be a long evening for us.
I couldn't agree more...
At this point, it would be hard for Fay to not be ahead of Egolf...
Look at the minute disparity up to yesterday including last year...
They need to find a way to get Egolf some minutes...otherwise they will find him leaving pretty shortly....
Then again, it may be hard to find certain players minutes when you're trying to play 25 million guards and playing every guy over 6'7" in one position...
Especially considering that if I've said it a thousand times, I will say it again...Egolf is NOT a 5! I'm not even certain AT is a 5 at this point...
If the team were run traditionally, your rotations would be:
C - Singh, Collins, Thompson
PF - Brown, Egolf, Thompson
SF - Wilson, Roberts, Brown, Dunson
SG - Warren, Dunson, Roberts, Norris
PG - Maniscalco, McCain, Dunson, Norris
And yes, you can play 2 SG's and 2 SF's at the same time but we should never be playing 2 small PG's at the same time...
Egolf shouldn't be getting 25 min a game, but he should at least be getting 10 at this point...
Besides, you aren't asking every guy to go in and score 20....you're just asking them to lead us toward the common goal...winning...and by each doing their own part...I think Will can contribute...I'm just waiting for others to see this (notably our coach)
Speaking of Andrew Warren a couple of my friends saw him with "a huge boot on" yesterday and I was a little concerned by that. Is he still required to wear a boot? I was under the impression that him not playing against Florida was a precaution but he was physically able to. I imagined he would be getting in good practices this week to get ready for the next 3 games. Now I'm wondering, since he's still in a boot, if he has practiced at all this week and if JL intends on playing him these next three games. Has anyone heard anything?
Likewise.....I couldn't agree more. I've seen it posted many times on this board within the past six months that 2009-2010 is the year to look out for Bradley. I find that hard to believe if we have nobody to play center. The two most likely candidates at this point are barely allowed to get off the bench. Looks like we may need to go the juco route again.
I'm not sure how you can say that?
Where is their Tatum and Young? Or even their Falker?
They have absolutely no go-to players and if they're relying on Fay to be their A-1 scorer and threat, I have to say they're in trouble...as much as he's improved...6-19 is not a great day and will not help you win many games if that is your top threat.
