Dave Snell did Illinois games?

I just received a DVD copy of a game from 1983, Illinois vs. Kentucky, and Dave Snell was the color commentator. How many years did he do Illinois games? I had no idea.

I can't help you B-n-C, but I suppose for DS... well, you gotta start somewhere, and then working your way up.

;)

It really struck me as odd, because he was the color guy, not the play by play guy. He was doing Bradley at the same time because he talked about driving from a BU/Loyola game the night before to Champaign in a blizzard.

Was the game produced by WCIA channel 3 in Champaign?

I grew up in an area where we used to get both channels. If I remember right both CBS affiliates may have been owned by the same company in the early 80's. I also believe WMBD 31 used to be the Peoria channel that used to carry the Illini game as well. Dave may have been a fill in on a local production.

Just a guess.

I believe it was a WCIA game because Dave Shaul was the PBP, and he's a WCIA guy from way back.
