There is no announcement of this on the Shocker board, or on ValleyNet, and the recruiting sites don't have this yet, but it appears that 6'3" 3-star point guard Kenny Manigault from Pinewood Preparatory School in Summerville, South Carolina has verbally committed to Wichita State. This information comes from someone connected with recruiting in South Carolina, which is an area that Coach Gregg Marshall is very familiar with.

From now on I am officially underwhelmed by any Valley recruit who did not, at some point, have a Big 10 offer. I now feel entitled, justified, and indeed even duty-bound to point out that The Citadel is NO IOWA.

However, let me disagree with myself. It's also OK if a Valley recruit had STRONG INTEREST from Stanford but didn't wait for an offer.

Also, any recruit who picks BU over Iowa State is OK.

Time for my meds.

There are a lot of very good basketball players out there. Heck, so many of them are so close its tough to differentiate. There are only so many scholarships in the Big Ten. Not all kids can go there if they want a scholarship.

It's gotta be tough to differentiate between two like players. Sometimes luck is involved on both ends really.

Hey guys, thanks for breaking the news to us Shocker fans about our newest addition. And BTW, congratulations on Prosser. I've seen him with Indiana Elite and he will be a great Valley addition.

We are pretty excited about "KT" Manigualt. Unless you have followed him closely, must would not be aware that earlier this year Scout vaulted him into their top 100. As you know, he is now a Scout 3 star, but Preps Stars also has him as a top 200 recruit. Within the last year he has shown the ability to be a very capable, athletic, tall point guard who can distribute the ball well. He is also very good on the defensive end.

I think the Valley has gotten two very good commitments in Prosser and Manigualt.

Oh, and if you want a rundown on current Valley commitments drop by our recruiting board on Shockernet. Our 2009 Recruiting Summary includes commitment information on all MVC schools. I try to keep it very up to date. It includes my own MVC class ratings for current commitments. Even with my "yellow colored" glasses, Bradley is currently ranked #1 for the 2009 recruiting class!

I know you are jesting a little bit, but...

Wait a minute, brocks, as kids like Jeremy Crouch, Patrick O'Bryant, Boogie, Sam M. all flew a little below the Big Ten's radar, but astute mid-major coaches can sometimes spot the talent.
It is no wonder half he Big Ten coaches are just guys hired away from the Valley and other mid-majors.

I was totally kidding . . . just trying on a little BCS arrogance for size.

No doubt JL really has an eye for talent, BCS offers or not. I trust that's the case with Norris and McCain, for example.
