Overall, the league will be better next year, with the top 8 all having a good chance of finishing .500 or better overall. Wichita State will be better than most think, and Indiana State will contend for the title if they can learn to win on the road.

Help me out hear Mob, you got my alma mater (BS '86) UWGB in 9th. There good for at least 8th. Man, that school took a big hit when Tony Bennett's dad left for UW. I wish we could get them on our schedule just once. That would be fun for at least me!

I like how you put the C in SIU! Reminds me of UIUC! I love it! I think UIUC should change its name to University of Mid-Central South-Eastern Illinois (UMCSEI). Then they could move to the MAC or Ohio Valley Conference.

I doubt that they would choose to be called SIUC instead of SIU, but they are forced to since there is another SIU. That is similar to Missouri State changing from a directional school Southwest Missouri State. Taking off the "Southwest" provides a little more "esteem" to the college's name. So I would say (and I may be wrong) but SIUC would probably prefer to just be SIU and known as The Southern Illinois University instead of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. I have a professor colleague who got her BS at SIU and she cringes at SIUC. I spent years in the UW (Wisconsin) system and all UW schools are UW-somewhere and that goes for Madision. But there is no way that a UW graduate would ever add Madision to the name and say they graduated from UW-Madision. On the other hand, I graduated from UW-Green Bay and am very proud of that school even though the mascot is a ficticious bird flying out of fire.

Me too. I love UIUC. It looks even better if you put a dash in there UI-UC. Kinda like what used to be UI-CC (Chicago Circle) I believe or UM-KC. Why was it called "Circle" in the first place? Because "The Loop" was already taken?

Not sure who offered that info to Wiki, but it is a bit outdated.
For at least the past 25 years, the U of I has attempted to promote themselves as UI-C and have actively tried to phase out the term "Circle Campus"
In fact you can do a search of th entire UIC website and find that they never once call themselves the Circle Campus nor do they even mention that term.

But I admit, old termingology hangs around and some still call it that, but the real name is UI-C (University of Illinois - Chicago)


Lots of cities have areas in their downtown that are named for the roads leading in and out, so I am not sure this is true anyway, but I don't have time to check the names of every downtown school campus.
The "Loop" is thus named for the "El" routes, and the downtown campus of DePaul is termed the "Loop Campus".

Well I'm from the Edwardsville area. So I grew up around SIUE and a lot of my friends go there; it's just a habit for me to call it SIUC because obviously if I say SIU at home everyone will think SIUE rather than Carbondale.

Also when I said SIUC on their page a few times, I got some backlash saying "It's SIU not SIUC"
