PJS Articles from 1/30

Here is a KW article on the Sam M NOW award. Note the reference to conspiracy theorists. Could he be speaking to many of the posters on this board ?????

http://www.pjstar.com/stories/013008/KIR_BFKVKMA2.073.php

I suspect he must be talking about people that emailed him when they did not cover the Maniscalco/NOW story.

We had the news here on Bradleyfans.com minutes after it was announced Monday afternoon, so I don't think any of our readers even noticed that the PJ Star dropped the ball on the story. And there wasn't anyone here that made an issue about it or claimed a conspiracy.

That's true, Da Coach, I thought the same thing,
that nobody on this board even noticed the absence of the mention about SM in the PJS.
Nobody suggested any conspiracy either.....so he can't mean anyone here.

Just another example of tabloid journalism from the PJS and specifically
Kirk Wessler this time. A real newspaper would not have printed
a simple article about a player being named Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week in this manner.

That may be true of SamMan being named NOW, and you're are correct in saying nobody here has ever said KW and the PJS hate on the BU basketball program...:roll::roll::roll:

I don't think its a conspiracy theory its just the facts that he doesn't write many good things about BU.And there is no way I would let him in the game tonite if wants something to write about that should be a good story.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe KW is a season ticket holder. (Not just a press credential user) Not allowing a season ticket holder admission (unless he broke the conditions of his season ticket contract) would be news worthy.

Might be ironic news if they denied his section admission to give more students better seats...

I think that Wessler should be let into the game if he pays for a ticket. But, if I were BU, I would cut him and the rest of the PJS tabloid off from any interviews and or practices and reserve those insights for other media in the area.

Although I thought conpiracy while I was trying to find the Bradley story(s) on the Sunday PJS.
First, I did not notice a prominent mention of the BU win on the banner at the top of A1.
Then I went to the sports section to read the BU story, did not see it.
Started leafing through the entire sports section before I noticed the BU reportcard on page 9, then realized the story began on page 1.
I then, and only then finally noticed the "Roundhouse" title (a title that does not contain any Bradley references) that was about the BU game...

Everyone - This is a HUGE game tonight. A win lifts the Braves out of the doldrums of Thursday night, where it feels like we have been FOREVER (It was a LONG 7 games when DR was hurt). A win tonight and BU can legitimately start talking about positioning itself for a top 4 seed. A loss tonight and we're still playing with the fire of the play-in round. We've done enough losing at home, it's time to re-establish some home court DOMINANCE!

KW is yet another individual who believes its "all about him"...

I just hope we don't also get the officials tonight who believe I bought a ticket to watch them work

I don't know if he is a season ticket holder or not. I really think he gets a free press pass.

If they get a free press pass, then the local tabloid can have some seats at the very top of the PCC. I hear that there is a fine view near the rafters.:p

If you are in charge of marketing BU basketball, would you really mind a some controversy with the media?

"all publicity is good publicity"

I don't think any team, college or pro, benefits from barring media from their games. So that is not going to happen, and shouldn't.
And even though I do think KW looks for negatives to write about, I acknowledge it's his job to do that.
Let's just he happy we don't have to read Phil Theobald any more!:D

Kirk has written some very positive columns in the past, and I am sure he is a Bradley fan. I don't think any BU fan should be surprised by anything that is written in the PJS. Let's just focus on getting this season back on track. BU was picked #2 in the MVC, and they still have a chance to get there.

Let's leave KW alone. To be honest I have stopped opening up the PJS in order to voice my displeasures. As long as you buy their paper and open up their web-site KW is winning. His job is to get as many people as possible to read his article, period. Right now everytime you plug his link into this board he get's free advertising! Sometimes I think he is doing it!

KW if you are reading these threads you should not be short sighted. Look at this as a long-term profitible venture in which if you help BU basketball by writing positive articles, pointing out true deficiencies that we need to address to become a better team not hurt recruiting and as we win and become a national sensation two things are bound to happen; more people will be looking through your post on a daily basis because everybody loves a winner; and who knows if we become a national story someone in the national news organizatoin may pay attention to you.

I'm with BradleyBrave that this is a must win. They will be one of the teams we will be fighting in order for us not to play in the play in game. This game will be huge come March.

Sounds more like you need to get your eyes checked. :-o Maybe the picture on the front page that went along with the story would've helped you find it.

In any case, DC, I'm glad you're able to be a bit of a voice of reason here about this. I think people tend to remember the "bad" stories they read instead of the good ones. Remember KW's column from Senior Night last year about ZA's "mom" being able to fly in to watch him? How about last week's game against ISU? What about Mich. St.? Man, he was really going after Bradley in those columns!

How is he being short-sighted? It's not his job be a BU cheerleader. If he sees something the team is doing wrong, he'll be critical of it. And KW's columns have about as much of an effect on recruiting as I do.
