Golden State trying to sign Chris Webber

Wow, things are getting worse by the day for Patrick O'Bryant...

--The Golden State people don't think much of POB and won't pick up his option

--The head coach Don Nelson has a history of not valuing centers all that much

--Now Nelson is glowing about how great his center, Andres Biedrins is playing...just got 26 rebounds last night

Not sure about other NBA teams, but the Miami Heat sure could use a center. Alonzo Mourning is out for the year and likely will retire. Or at least this was supposed to be his last year. Shaq is done. Too many injuries. I don't think he will last much longer.

The problem is that Shaq has a fat contract and Miami can't spend too much lest they go over the salary cap. Getting POB helps fill-in the center position plus he's probably cheap. No way can they get a well-known, immediate impact star with Shaq still on the pay roll.
 
I heard that the Heat would be willing to shop Shaq but his contract keeps getting in the way for any possible deal plus he has a no trade clause so he would have to approve the deal. He's not worth money he is getting paid plus he has some personal issues that may hamper his game. Then again going to a new team may rejuvinate him.
 
I suppose it is worth taking a chance for Golden State at such a low price ($570,000 for the remainder of the season). But I don't expect to see Webber make any difference for the Warriors, and probably he won't be in shape to play much.

It will be interesting to see what roster move is made to make room for Webber.

Warriors released Troy Hudson a little used injured guard.
 
Hudson's contract was guaranteed, so they must be convinced he won't be able to make a recovery.
Good for POB that he's still on the roster. It is a bit more dificult to hitch onto another team at this time of the season.
I have talked to someone who knows a few NBA scouts, an there will be interest in POB after his contract runs out.
