Last night stats do not support me on this, but the biggest difference is how he improves our defense. He makes it much more difficult for opponents to do what they want to do. On another thread SanFran Pete said he disrupts. He gets thru ball screens like no one I've ever seen. Sam will get better at that with experience.
The other factors have to do with team mates all moving one player down on the opponents skill level chart. And, also, they all can have their minutes lowered. He just gives the team more flexibility. Can you imagine what it would have been like playing Michigan State and Vanderbilt without him. (See the second half of the VCU game).
Offensively, he's probably not going to put up better numbers than Sam, but knowing the offenses and reading defenses he excels.
It almost hurts to acknowledge this, but we win the UNI, Drake, WSU, and possibly the VCU game with a healthy Danny, IMHO.
