It reports that Ben Brust got an offer from Iowa last week. Then this week he was visiting Northwestern and received a scholarship offer from northwestern coach Bill Carmody.

In addition to the offer from Northwestern and Iowa, he has scholarship offers from Butler, Davidson, Bradley, and Southern Illinois. He is also getting...interest from Virginia and Stanford in the past month.

Brust was scheduled to visit Iowa in the middle of May, but those plans have changed and he will be making the trip to Iowa City next week.

nope...but in the premium articles here is the order in which his schools were listed...

          In one he says.....
"Brust said he has offers from Iowa, Butler, Bradley,
          Southern Illinois and Davidson."

          In the other it says...
" In addition to Iowa, he holds offers from Butler, Davidson,
          Bradley, and Southern Illinois."

Notoriously the guys writing the articles leave out the mention of the non-BCS schools and they have a track record of downplaying interest from smaller schools like Bradley..
Thus I can only assume that Bradley is at least still in Brust's top 3 or 4....
Brust's brother played soccer at BU.

A New premium story from Iowa suggests they think they will have him wrapped up,
and that Kaylon Williams will not end up at Iowa.

I won't post the entire story, because it is a copyrighted premium article, but here are a few blurbs...and you can PM me if you want to know more...

this one is a one-on-one interview...
"Q: In general terms, how did your visit go?
Ben Brust: It went well. I got to see the basketball facilities, the school, the
academic people. Overall, it went very well.

Q: What did you do on your visit? What was you interaction like with the coaches?
BB: I got to spend time with all four coaches. Today, the assistant coaches
toured me all around the campus. I met the strength and conditioning coach,
the athletic trainer and the business (school) director. (Tuesday) I spent
some time with Coach (Todd) Lickliter. I ended the visit with all the coaches
                in Coach Lickliter??™s office.

Q: What were your impressions of the Iowa coaches?
BB: It was really positive. I really like Coach Lickliter. He??™s really simple and
down to earth. And all three of his assistants are really good people.

Q: How many offers do you have at this point, Ben?
BB: Truthfully, about 20, but I??™ve kind of narrowed it down to the schools
                that I??™m considering.

Q: How many are on that list that you??™re considering?
BB: Right now, Butler, Northwestern, Iowa, Davidson, Bradley, SIU (Southern
Illinois) and there are a few others.

Q: So, you??™re not sure when you??™ll pick a school?
BB: Yeah, I??™m just not sure.

Q: What are some strengths in your game and what are some areas that you??™d like to improve?
BB: I definitely like to bring a lot of energy. I like to do everything out there,
you know, drive, shoot, play defense, just do everything. There??™s always
                room for improvement everywhere.

Q: What are your dimensions? How tall are you and how much do you weigh?
                BB: I am 6-2, about 180.

Q: Is shooting the strength of your game? Is that the skill that sticks out?
                BB: Yeah, definitely."

this other one is more of a story about his Iowa visit...

"After receiving an offer from Iowa last month, Ben Brust wasted little time in
making his first unofficial visit to Iowa City ..
"Last night I got to spend some time with Coach Lickliter and two of his
assistants. Basically we just talked and they showed me a video of how they
use their point guards and then the assistants took me around campus and
                  met a few people."

Coach Lickliter also talked to Brust and his family about where the program is
headed and how he could fit into his system.

On Wednesday, the 6-foot-2 guard who averaged 29 points a game in his
junior campaign, continued his tour of the campus."

                  there's more..but you'll have to PM me.........

Ben Brust was to have taken another visit to Iowa this past weekend, but abruptly cancelled his trip..

In one interview, he said it was because his sister-in-law
"gave birth. Brust and his mother switched plans from campus visit to maternity ward."

                    Here's a few more comments...
"We were going to head out (to Iowa) this week, but the baby came early,??? Brust said on Monday night. ???I??™m still coming to Iowa soon.???
Brust said that ???soon??? meant by the end of June"

He also says he is planning to take visits to Virginia & Stanford...and it appears maybe Bradley is no longer one of his leaders.

According to IllinoisPrepBullseye, Ben Brust has narrowed his choices to Iowa, Northwestern, or Butler-

Also note that they report that 6'10" 2010 recruit Jordan Threloff is considering Bradley, among other schools.

Iowa better hope Ben Brust stays loyal, he might just be their future hope...
Brust scored 50 points last night..
but Evanston's Garrett Jones had 51 to help Evanston win 102-91.

Brust and Garrett maybe take an early lead in the 2010 Illinois Mr. Basketball race?

Brust released by Iowa - reopens recruiting

                            By Associated Press
                            2:10 PM CDT, April 12, 2010

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) ??” The University of Iowa has released Ben Brust from his national letter of intent, but are determined to get him to commit again to the Hawkeyes.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said in a statement Monday the guard from Mundelein, Ill. is still very much interested in the Hawkeyes. However, Brust wants the new coaching staff to pursue and re-recruit him.

Brust is the latest Iowa recruit to be released from his commitment. Cody Larson, a forward from Sioux Falls, S.D., was released Friday from his letter of intent. Both Brust and Larson signed with coach Todd Lickliter, who was fired March 15.

McCaffery says he had encouraging conversations with Brust on Saturday and visited Larson and his family on Thursday.

A new article says that Ben Brust has already fielded 18 NEW offers!!!!
                              EIGHTEEN!!! -- just since MONDAY!!

seriously - this is the way to play your cards...
commit somewhere, ANYWHERE....even commit to Savannah State, then wait until a week before the spring signing period, and if you can even walk and chew gum, then there'll be dozens of colleges with open scholarships banging your door down!!

Another article now also says even Kaylon Williams, who left Evansville, was not much more than average at a D-II juco, but now nearing the signing period has several Big Ten coaches tailing him!!

Mundelein senior guard Ben Brust reopened his recruiting after de-committing from Iowa on Monday.

Thanks to PTownHawkeye, it's been noted that Kaylon Williams appears headed for UW-Milwaukee. He has something posted on his Facebook page about it-

I suspect he was a fall-back option for a couple Big Ten coaches, and now he realizes that.
