  • BU recruit- class of 2010- Jacob Thomas

Here is a new name that the Minnesota Rivals site is reporting that Bradley is recruiting from the class of 2010--

Jacob Thomas is a 6'3", 170 pound shooting guard from Columbia Heights High School in Minnesota. Columbia Heights is just north of Minneapolis.

Here are a couple clips from the article--
It was a breakout winter for both Jacob Thomas and his Columbia Heights team. Thomas averaged 21.8 points per game as a sophomore and his team made a ten game improvement under coach Will Braziel. Jacob is now playing with the Howard Pulley 16s group and has played well enough to start gathering division one interest from schools at the mid and high major level.

Michael J MuchThomas is leading the Pulley 16s in scoring
Thomas shot 34 percent from beyond the arc for the season and he took 223 three-point shots out of 504 total for the year. Because of that his overall field goal percentage fell to 41 percent but he made 48 percent of his looks from inside the three-point line. Jacob is a 72 percent free throw shooter and he averaged 5.7 rebounds a contest.

For the AAU season Thomas has played very well...he's got very good length at 6-fooot-3. At the most recent Nike Memorial Classic, Thomas averaged a healthy 14.3 points per contest to lead the Panther 16s.

Thomas has now received division one interest. "I have letters from Colorado, Northern Iowa, Wisconsin, the University of Minnesota of course, Bradley," said Braziel. "I have talked to Northern Iowa about Jacob, a coach from Colorado heard about Jacob's play from the Sioux Falls event and I talked to them, and also Minnesota has made inquiries."

The Minnesota Rivals site has an updated article about 2010 recruit Jacob Thomas. It is a premium article--

    Here are a few clips--
In the ranks of Minnesota high school basketball one of the great debates is who is the top 2010 prospect? Columbia Heights shooting guard Jacob Thomas has the pretty stroke, the athletic ability, and a newly built physical frame that has caught division one attention. To this point Thomas has no offers but with continual progress they should be in his future and he could end up as the top player.
"Jacob has matured a lot," said Columbia Heights coach Will Braziel. "We challenged Jake to basically lift weights and run regularly and he's more than accepted the challenge. An example was last Saturday playing in the fall league where Jake was just playing at a whole different level. Now that his body is stronger Jake can just flat out play. We asked him to improve some things and he showed maturity in doing them.
As a sophomore Thomas averaged 21.8 points per game along with 5.7 rebounds a contest. As a junior those numbers are really expected to hit new highs as Thomas grows into a high major prospect.
"Northern Iowa has called about watching Jake, Colorado has called about open gyms, and most recently Wisconsin-Green Bay has called about Jacob. Eastern Kentucky has shown a lot of interest in Jake and Creighton sends as much mail as anybody does, I see the Jays on a letter everyday."
Also lurking around Thomas is the Minnesota Gophers.

so is a kid actually impressed by a school sending a bunch of what amounts to junk mail??
      I guess time will tell......
Depends on whether it is true junkmail (slick papered crap) or if these are notes handwritten by the coaches telling him about what is going on around school, how he would fit the team, etc. Knowing CU's coaches, it's the latter not the former.

Jacob Thomas, who was a Bradley recruit at one time, verballed to Long Beach State yesterday. He'll be a teammate there of another former BU recruit, Larry Anderson.
