A new name has emerged as a possible 2008 recruit. Kaylon Williams is a 6'3", 185 point guard from Kennedy High School of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He has been "under the radar" because of a serious injury last summer. But his recruiting is picking up.

Three-star point guard Kaylon Williams has led Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Kennedy High School to a state semifinal game on Friday. Both mid-majors and high majors are tracking him and a top SEC school is now involved.
"Kentucky called Kaylon earlier this week to express their interest in him," said Williams' travel team coach Jamie Johnson of the Iowa Barnstormers. "Coach Webster told him they wanted to watch him play and would try to get up here if he advanced to the semifinals. It will be interesting to see if they show up Friday. Coach Webster saw Kaylon last spring before his wrist injury and liked him then."
A number of schools including Purdue, Iowa State, Missouri State, Evansville (offer), Bradley, Missouri-Kansas City and Northern Illinois have watched Williams during this stretch run of the season.
"Along with Evansville, Missouri State and Bradley standout as the schools most involved with Kaylon," said Johnson. "Two assistants from Bradley have watched him and said that Coach Les just needed to see him. I wouldn't be surprised if they pull the trigger soon."
Williams is averaging 18 points, eight assists and five rebounds per game after missing the summer and fall due to an accident where he severed an artery and tendon in his left wrist. Although his recruitment is picking back up, Williams won't dive into the process until his state championship run is over.
