I liked what I saw from Simms-Edwards. He is talented, and definitely gets the 'team' concept. I'm not sure I would consider him a top priority, but certainly someone to keep an eye on.

Here's another prospect, Ruben Cotto. (Alton HS)

He is averaging 27.6ppg, and is being invited to Illinois this weekend...

Sun-Times reporting that Bruce Weber is going hard after Limestone's Donivine Stewart and Washington's Dyricus Simms-Edwards. BU has a good 'in' with both of them, hopefully we can get one of them to stay home.

These two players were discussed in this thread after their performances at the Pekin Tournament last week.

        Onward and Upward!

I know this was a while back but I didn't see it posted. I spotted Donivine Stewart and the Limestone basketball team at the VCU game, sitting behind the north basket.

            My prediction....
Stewart will face the fine defensive efforts of Simms-Edwards, and get shut down, scoring only 12 mostly on FT's
and Limestone will have nobody to stop Roth, who will go for 27, in a 17 point Washington win.

Let's do a pick'em...I say Limestone's 1-3-1 halfcourt trap and uptempo game gives Washington's 'other' players fits, and Limestone takes it. Stewart goes for 20.

Tornado wins by an eyelash! Washington takes it 65-63. Haven't seen a box score, but it sounds like a heck of a game.

Roth led Washington with 16, Simms-Edwards with 15. Donivine Stewart led all scorers with 23. Chuck Buescher was in attendance.

I was at the game last night and Simms-Edwards is the REAL deal! I was also impressed with Stewart although it seemed at times that he tried to do too much on his own. Sumrell is also a very solid player for Limestone. What a great game though I wish the result would have been different!

I wasn't at the game, I only saw the box score and write up. Interesting note on Stewart, the few times I have seen him play he has gone out of his way to try and involve teammates. Often they didn't know how open they were and missed his brilliant passes.

He did try to involve them at times, but often isolated and tried to drive to the basket. Granted, he was productive doing this, but I got the impression the team did a better job running a set offense when he wasn't at the point. I believe it was Kyle Graham (#45) that was running the offense when Limestone made that 3rd quarter comeback. Don't get me wrong, Stewart is VERY impressive, especially when you realize he's just a freshman!

Below is a story on Ruben Cotto, an Illinois high schooler who is putting up some fine numbers and getting praise....
However....it is a little worrisome when the coaches who attend his high school games and who are quoted in the press are junior college coaches.
That hints that they know something and he might have eligibility problems.

A new statewide ranking is out, and Dyricus Simms-Edwards is finally getting a little more notice outside Peoria...

They have him ranked #23, but in a couple months when they see him in the Elite Eight that will change.

Our own friend and fellow BradleyFans poster scout4126
has Edwards ranked #8 statewide, and he generally has a lot better knowledge of the downstate kids.

you'll note that both D'Mitri Riggs and Cully Payne (both of whom were in the Top-5 as freshmen) have fallen way off and are barely considered top 20 talent now.

One last observation for Dan Ponemann...
In your 2011 rankings....of course it is hard to see all the kids, but you have superfrosh Donivine Stewart ranked at #16, and he's not only playing and starting varsity, he is the best player on a decent team and maybe in the top 2-3 players in the conference.
But at the same time, you have Tyler Terrance (Midland) ranked at #11, and he plays mostly JV, and barely gets into varsity games, and has a long, long way to go!!
By the way, I would probably have the guys you have at #30 & 31 switched....

Dyricus was at the ISU game last night, as was his coach and some others.. They sat nearby and seemed to enjoy the game....
???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???
