I don't get this comment by Marshall...

"I will say that I'm leaning towards Utah ...(they) showed me that they just want me a little bit more than the other schools.
They turned around the program in one year, and maybe I can go up there and help."

    What the hey???

In 2006-2007 they were 6-10 in the Mountain West....
Then under new coach Boylen, this year they were 7-9!!
They did win more non-conference games, but then many were over teams such as South Carolina Upstate, High Point, Weber State, Idaho State, and Dixie State (non-D-I).

This past year, the highest rated non-conference team they beat was RPI 71, Utah State.
In 2006-2007, they beat #26 Washington State, and #55 Virginia, arguably even a better year!

So I guess I wouldn't count a 7-9 record in a conference worse than the MVC
    as "turning the program around".

To be fair, I think the phrase "turned around the program in one year" is accurate when looking at the overall season record. In 2006-2007, the overall record was 11-19, conference record of 6-10, and in 2007-2008, the overall record was 18-15, conference record of 7-9.

According to the article, every one of the 5 schools are still being strongly considered which includes Bradley.

Bradley is a great school. I want Bradley to get its fair share of prospects that it recruits. I also want the kids who are being recruited by Bradley and other schools to have the opportunity to make the decision that is best for them.

There should be no losers in this process. I want every prospect who Bradley signs to have success. I would hope that everyone on this board also wishes those prospects who sign with another school success as well.

Be positive ! Bradley basketball has experienced a lot of success up to this point and will no doubt have even more in the future.

You are right, it was just that when I heare the phrase "turned the program around", I just pictured maybe getting back to the top of the conference and beating some top competition.
But it is clear that Utah is very appealing to MH.
They note that one of his friends may be going there, and it is obvious that Utah has done a good job making Marshall feel welcome.
Hey, I know Bradley can't match the football scholarship to Josh, but if Josh is 6-6, maybe he'd like to come to the Valley and play some basketball, too!

There are obviously a whole lot of intangibles.... if I were asked what made me choose Bradley when I decided on a college, I have to say it was a very subjective feeling I got when I visited...almost like I just knew that's where I was meant to go (of course not to play basketball).
So, I wish the best for MH wherever he goes, and hopefully he'll get to play a lot and be successful.

Marshall Henderson was just the kind of player Bradley needed. too bad we finished 2nd in his recruiting. Here are some numbers he's putting up this season, so far.--
50 points, then 28 points against Memphis signee Nolan Dennis's team and then 40 points in the next game. On the year he has hit 48 3-pointers in 11 games and is averaging 26.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.4 assists for his 10-1 team.

Are there any more kids like this out there?

Followup on former BU recruit Marshall Henderson.
As a freshman, Henderson has impressed the Utah coaches, and has started both their exhibition game and their first game, a 94-87 loss to Idaho. He scored 18 points in the loss to Idaho.

BU will be a Mid major even if they went to 5 final fours in 5 years. Its based on $$ NOT how well you play.

Marshall Henderson had a good year as a freshman at Utah...but as a team, they struggled offensively...and Henderson also was part of what's described as a bad offense...attempting 194 3-pointers (almost as many as OE's 199!)and hitting 33.5%.
He probably led the nation in shot attempts per assist (305/27)

                here's their beat-blogger's opinion...
"..this is the worst offensive ever team I've seen at Utah as well as the most difficult to watch.
.. the offense is as bad right now as the defense was under coach Ray Giacoletti and never improved as the season went along. It's simply brutal to watch
The Utes just don't have many great shooters on the team right now and apparently not many coming in."

I watched Henderson play last night in the MWC Tournament, I still think he's a darn good player and would have done very well at BU. That Ute team has a ton of size but is pretty weak at the guard position, especially PG. If they could fix that I think they'd be in business.
                  Onward and Upward!
