Scout lists a 6'7", 215lb PF from Monroe college. A JUCO. I haven't seen him until recently. He lists Bradley along with some east coast mids. His name is Matt Salley. Anybody know of this guy or Bradley's intrest? Scout has him at 3 stars. I don't remember seeing him mentioned on this board before. If he has I apologize.

I don't know much about him. He was not listed as a Bradley recruit as recently as yesterday, but today he shows up with Bradley recruiting him. He could be a new recruit we are pursuing?
Just don't know.
I do know Bradley is not completely finished with 2006 recruiting. The coaches are focusing more on 2007, but they do have a couple scholarships for 2006, and there are some uncommitted high school and juco players left. They have to evaluate whether they could help our team.

Matt Salley made the NJCAA All-Tournament team as Monroe College took eighth place in the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., last month.
Scout posted an interview with Matt Salley today (4/26) and he mentioned that Bradley has made a recent inquiry--
http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=444&p=9...=2274114&fhn=1 (probably a subscription article)
He was a first team all-region selection after helping the Mustangs to a Region XV title, and later earned NJCAA All-Tournament honors as Monroe copped eighth place out in Hutchinson, Kan., last month.
The only thing Salley lacks are a number of Division I scholarship offers.
According to Mustangs' Asst. Coach Steve Hobbs, Rider recently put an offer on the table for the skilled 6-7, 215 pound power forward from Charlotte, N.C.
Hampton and Bradley made recent inquiries.
"His recruitment is probably not where it should be," said Hobbs. "Especially for a kid who was first team All-Region and made the all-tournament team at Hutch."
Salley averaged 13.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for the Mustangs in 2005-2006 after transferring in last year from Central Florida C.C. His long arms help him to gobble up rebounds in the paint, yet Salley is skilled enough to consistently knock down short to midrange jumpers.
On top of all that, Salley needs to complete just two classes in the spring trimester to finish his degree requirements at Monroe.

This guy sounds as if he wouldn't just be a "warm" body. Of course, I'm going off the star system and I don't know how much stock can be put into that. Heck, they had Sykes at 1 star.

Rivals has a brand new story & interview with Marvell Waithe
Here are a few excerpts:
"Marvell Waithe..........6-foot-8, 175-pound wing from Canada....
... is one of the top available wings on the 2006 boards.
"I never knew that is was going to be so big for me," Waithe said.
....... the new staff at Cincinnati took a long look at the lanky shooter from Toronto's Toronto Sir Wilfrid Lauier Collegiate School. Now he's preparing for a Sunday trip to the Big East school.
"They are good people there and I know they are looking forward to competing in the Big East," Waithe said. "They are bringing in a lot of players, some high school guys and some JUCO players. They have a good mix. I think they can be a real contender next year."
The Bearcats aren't the only program looking at the three-star perimeter shooter/shot-blocker. Wake Forest, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Iowa and Tulsa are all involved. Waithe said he could piggy back a trip to Wake Forest right after his visit to Cincinnati. Those details are still being worked out, he said.
April has been a busy month for Waithe. He played in the Nike Hoop Summit for the international squad and took pride in being the only Canadian player on the roster. Then came the Real Deal. Waithe said he cancelled an official visit to Georgia two hours before he his flight left for the SEC school leaving the Real Deal. Lately, he's been shuffling through different recruiting pitches from a number of schools.
Even with all of the current commotion, Waithe said he not in a rush to decide on a visit.
"If it comes down to it, I might but I want to try my hardest to not rush on this. It's the most important decision in my life," Waithe said. "I'd like to take some more visits before I decided on anything. I want to find the place that can make me the best player I can be in four or five years."
************let's hope he sees the log jam at Cincy and considers Bradley
Rivals also has a nice article about a kid named Demond Watt, a fine 6'6" PF from Calumet City, IL whose high school coach is ex-Bradley basketball player Tim Bankston.
The only problem is that the kid's AAU coach is Larry Butler, who virtually rules the Chicago-area AAU circuit. PM me if that doesn't fully clear up the issue in your mind.

Another new article discusses a recruit and lists Bradley among his schools considered.
Of interest, is that Bradley is listed right among the big boys:
Illinois, Wisconsin, Stanford, St. Mary's, New Mexico, Texas A&M, Northern Arizona, Washington State, Idaho.
The player is the son of former Illini player, Eddie Johnson,
Justin Johnson.
"Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy 6-foot-7, 190-pound shooting guard Justin Johnson is quickly moving up the charts for the class of 2007. A late-bloomer with respect to his game, Johnson's bloodlines indicated long ago that he would be a player of high caliber by the time he finished high school and entered the college world of basketball.
He should be closing in on 6-foot-8 and weigh over 210 by the middle of next season, according to his father, NBA great Eddie Johnson.
The thing that has gotten attention for him is his ability to score without dominating the ball and doing it with a mid-range game that has been abandoned by many players for the past several years. Coaches comment on his athleticism, wingspan and his willingness to play defense."
