HEY.........this is GREAT NEWS........I thought he was really having a good time with the team on his visit......right now the Braves are 2-0 on recruits from TEXAS!
I think the best commit of all may have been Coach Brooks.
It's starting to look that way. What an instant impact.
My sister was on a flight from Dallas to Peoria last week and said that she got to talk to Coach Les on the flight. She doesn't know anything about the Braves except the two game against the U of I and MSU. After talking with him, she wants to come to a Bradley game in Peoria this year.
Seems like a slightly odd commit to me, but I'll take it. Anyone else feel like JL and co are doing an even better job keeping stuff secret, I mean we knew a little bit about this guy but not much...
I think Jim Les likes Chris Brown because he is a 6-3 version of Will Franklin with more athleticism.
He can do it all, handle the ball a little, score, and rebound.
Remember that Will Franklin averaged only 8.4ppg and 2.9rpg as a juco sophmore, and Chris' numbers are better than that as a freshman at juco (9ppg/3rpg), and 40% from 3-pt.
Mike, he is definitely bigger, decide for yourself.
But here is the updated (html) Scholarship Grid.
We still have one scholarship for 2008 for sure, and at least one more possible unless taken by Xavier Crawford.
Of course something else could happen that could free up even more.
(ps-- the scholarships allotted to Crawford, Buycks, and Sweatman are still a bit speculative)
Oh, and one other thing.................
WELCOME CHRIS ROBERTS !!!
Van Coleman says this about Chris Roberts:
"October 1, 2007
Bradley adds quality junior college guard...
Jim Les and his Bradley staff dip into the junior college ranks to add a quality wing scorer and defender...
According to a source close to the program, and confirmed this afternoon by the Peoria Star Journal,
the Bradley Braves have added their seconf backcourt recruit this fall in 6-foot-4 170-pound Chris Roberts from Navarro CC, TX.
The thin but very quick wing talent can knock down long range jumper or slash to hoop and finish above the rim.
He has really quick hands (2steals a game) and feet to become a defensive stopper in the Mo Valley.
He averaged 9 points and 3 boards last winter, but based on his summer play look for those numbers to blow up this winter."
I hope this guy is better than he sounds... 6' 4 165 is pretty skinny and his numbers don't sound the greatest. I trust the coaching staff on this one
I concur witrh a couple other posters. Chris Roberts is definitely not skinny. He is very muscular and strongly built. I would guess he must be 185-190, and around 6'4", as he was a shade shorter than Andrew.
I have heard that this is the 2-guard Jim Les really wanted more than anyone else available, and he is ready to step in immediately in 2008 and give quality playing time after Jeremy and Daniel are gone.
Welcome to Bradley, CR!
Here was the previous information we had posted about Roberts--
