MMmob, that's what I was wondering. Bradley has retired 5 numbers. 11,15, 31 and 33 twice each, and 45. Nobody wore any of those numbers last year. I was wondering if a number is retired, how can someone else wear that number. Just curious, no bg deal. Kirby Puckett's number 14 was retired in baseball I believe.

2008 BU commitment- Chris Roberts

As a general matter of courtesy. retired numbers can and have been (with other sports organizations) reused with permission from the "retiree".
Back when recruits were given customized jerseys (now illegal per NCAA) you would hear stories that a recruit was told, "we received permission from XXX that you would be allowed to keep you preferred #".

Stew
My grammar school friend Bruce VanDeVelde hired Stew Morrell
when he was USU AD prior to going to Iowa State. Stew is a good
coach and a shrewd recruiter. Logan is certainly one of the most
scenic cities of the intermountainwest. That said it could be
difficult to interest recruits to a 97% white, 95% Morman pop-
ulation. It's just a different culture than most. Me? My God-
father went to Notre Dame and I was all Catholic or Christian
(Bradley) schools. I am NOT surprised that BU was the choice
for CRob. And Chris, it might have been nice to drive the 220 down
the see you at USU. But, I look forward to driving down to Logan to
to see you in the RED playing the USU Aggies. Welcome, our new
friend, to the Hilltop.

Chris Roberts had a good game last night, despite his team's loss. Navarro College lost in overtime to Angelina College. Chris Roberts had a team-high 16 points and was 4-7 from three point. He is mentioned near the bottom of the article.
Chris is having a good year, but his team doesn't have much size and is struggling. They are now 5-10.--

I went to the Navarro vs Lee game this afternoon before running home for the BU vs UNI game this evening. Navarro won 91-84. Chris was 6-10 from the field including 3-6 from 3.
He was 1-2 from the line for a total of 16 points. He only had 4 in the second half and kind of diasappeared. He had 4 rebound, 2 steals and 2 fouls. Overall he looked pretty good. He has a good stroke. He can jump-he had one monster slam as he took a pass from just inside 1/2 court and slammed it over his defender. He looks athletic. He has good range on his 3's. He is not selfish-he wll pass and seems like a good team player. He kind of disappeared in the second half when Navarro spent most of the time with a pretty healthy lead. He did not take it to the rim... don't know that this means he cannot do so or if it just means that is not his role on this team. Overall looks like a kid with potential and I look forward to seeing him at BU.houstonbrave

JucoJunction.com has an article about Navarro College posted today (1/19/08 ). It mentions Chris Roberts briefly.--

Here is a clip--
The Navarro College Bulldogs stand at (7-9) on the season currently. The Bulldogs have already had one sophomore sign early in Chris Roberts, who inked with Bradley University. Assistant coach Johnny Estelle touched based today with JucoJunction on three other sophomores that the Bulldogs have on the roster.
Pat Johnson: (SO) 6-foot-0 from New Orleans, LA.
"Patrick is an athletic combo guard that is good in transition and penetrating the basketball. He is a good one on one player that can create off the dribble," said Estelle.
Neko Stylianou: (SO) 6-foot-5 from Greece.
"Neko is a very skilled player, more of a combo forward (4/3) man. He has recorded 5 double-doubles this year for us while playing four different positions on the floor," said Estelle.
Josh Bonney: (SO) 6-foot-6 from Whitecastle, LA.
"Bonney is a great run-jump-athlete," said JucoJunction staff member Bret Swanson.
Josh is a tough undersized post that can guard bigger players on the floor. Josh recorded 19 points and 17 rebounds this season versus Blinn College.
