Jim Les is in Toronto to pursue 6'8" prep star-

  • #2
Wow, this is the top prospect in Canada and is eligible for this coming fall!! Hope he wants to come th BU!

Nice to see BU listed right at the front of the list of schools pursuing him:

"Bradley, Cincinnati, Georgia, Iowa, ....Michigan State"

Wonder if the Molinari/BU - Canada pipeline is still intact?
Maybe Jim Les took Jason Faulknor on the recruiting trip with him!

      Here are some premium articles--

In the top articles posted 3/28 he says- "I've recently gotten offers from Georgia, Bradley, Richmond and Cincinnati," he added. "Some of those schools will receive official visits, as well."

In the earlier articles he had said he had a top three of Tulsa, Iowa and Nevada, but that he wants to go to a program that he can play and have an immediate impact.

His body and his game are compared to Tayshaun Prince- skinny, but very athletic and a "scoring machine". He averaged over 30 points per game and 11 rebounds.

One of the Rivals articles did say he was in Auburn Hills at the invite of Iowa, to watch the Hawkeyes. Maybe he also saw Bradley?

If that was the case, we certainly should have moved above them on the list. We were the darlings of the Auburn Hills games!

Just a question.......were the Braves on this kid before the Sweet 16 run..........or is he one of the kids who contacted JL? He sounds like the real deal and would be a match-up problem for many teams!

Bradley is listed first because, the schools are listed in alphabetical order.

Oh man. I just can't wait for that signing period... we could be just on the cusp of becoming a perennial powerhouse.

I am as excited as everyone else about recruiting after the run BU made, the publicity that not only BU got but also the Valley, and Les's salesmanship. My concern is that there are fewer quality players left for the spring signing period compared to the fall signing period. Also, there will be many schools after the quality recruits. If BU can land some quality recruits this spring, it will say that Les and the program are moving rapidly in the right direction. I think next falls recruiting period will be even more crucial for the long term success of the program. A good season next year with another trip to the Dance, and I will be giddy!!!!!!!!

                        Marvell Waithe- Bradley recruit

The Canadian kid that Jim Les is recruiting is currently playing in the Nike Hoops Summit in Memphis. It is on TV right now, FSN-Midwest, Insight cable channel 57.

The game pits high school players from the US with International Under-19 players. Waithe is playing guard at 6'8" for the International team. He is in the dark uniform wearing a white tee shirt under his jersey. He looks awfully good!

I watched some of the game. Waithe is currently on the bench. The US team is a lot better, quicker, and deeper than the World team and is dominating the game. But there is some pretty good talent on the World team.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

Waithe didn't play as much as most of the others on his team. He may have been a late addition to the World team, as he is not listed on several websites that show the roster.

Nike Hoop Summit info, players, teams, rosters, dates and locations

There were many great players on the US team--

But the one US player that looked like he didn't belong was Jon Scheyer. He had a horrible game. He looked much slower than everyone else, was shooting airballs, making turnovers, and unable to defend. He does not appear to be in the same class as the other US players. I wonder if he might redshirt next year at Duke?

He will get minutes next year at Duke, he just had an off-game, he looked fine at the McD AA game. I dont think there is any chance of him redshirting next year.
