Anyone know if Waithe has taken or cancelled any other visits?

He is in the process of making his allowable 5 visits. Tulsa, Iowa, and Bradley are 3 of them.

Here is what he told a Rivals.com affiliate--
Marvell Waithe, a 6-foot-8 and 180-pound wing forward from Sir Wilfrid Lauier Collegiate in Toronto, Ontario, recently told InsideTulsaSports.com that he would take all five of his official visits and would sign late in the spring signing period. He stated that the University of Tulsa would receive one of those visits, but he would wait until after he competed in the 2006 Nike Hoop Summit game to begin those visits.

"I've been invited to play in the 2006 Nike Hoops Summit all-star game in Memphis on April 8," said Waithe. "I'm not going to take any of my official visits until after that game. I know I'm going to visit Tulsa and Iowa and three other schools."

Already holding several offers, Waithe has recently picked up four additional offers.

"I've recently gotten offers from Georgia, Bradley, Richmond and Cincinnati," he added. "Some of those schools will receive official visits, as well."

Waithe has been selected to play for the World Team in the April 8th Hoop Summit contest in Memphis. The game will be played at the FedEx Forum at 3:00 pm (CST). Waithe is familiar with some of the participants and looks forward to displaying his talents.

"I know on the U.S. team I'll be playing against Greg Oden, Kevin Durant and Paul Harris," explained Waithe. "I've played on the same team as Harris, but haven't played against or with any of the other players. On the international team, I think there are players from Australia, but am not sure which other countries are represented."

"I'll be going to Memphis on April 2nd to start practicing with my squad. After that, I'll be setting up my visits. I know I'll be busy, because I plan on taking all five official visits in less than a month. So, I'll be signing late."

Just "waithe" a minute....do you have the authority to make such a declaration.

                  Marvell Waithe

An article about Marvell Waithe in the Toronto Sun. According to the article Bradley (as well as Georgia) is out.

If true this is a dissappointment. We could use an impact player next year!

Well, he sounds like quite the talent, but I don't know how much of an impact he would have next year. He is not very strong and will be a redshirt candidate no matter where he goes.

That being said, I am getting a little worried about getting some impact guys for next year. It's getting late in the game.

It's a little hard to figure out the timeline in this story since Waithe visited BU on Tuesday and had other places lined up after that.

                        Thanks for the link Heemy.

It's my understanding that the last 2 places he visited were Georgia and Bradley. Interesting that the article says these are the 2 he has eliminated. He has made it clear in his recruiting that he wants to go somewhere where he can play and start immediately. I doubt that would be the case at Bradley and that may be why he has eliminated them. I hear he is not ready for Div I. It will be interesting to see where he ends up. It might be a rebuiilding, lower Div I program such as Canisius, which the article mentions.

If the only criteria is that the guy wants to be clearly able to play right away, then I see that as a very shallow
determining factor. If that's the only thing the guy wants, then he should try ICC or maybe Chicago State or Savannah State.

There's playing time to be had at BU at the 3 and 4 position if he's any good.

Georgia just signed a 6'8" Juco, so I can see why they cooled on him.

Here is some more update on Marvell Waithe

The Toronto Sun keeps a nearly day to day update on the kid as he is becoming a local hero.

                              " WAITHE WATCHERS ALERT

Canada's hottest hoopster, Laurier's Marvell Waithe, has a new suitor in Duquesne University, the program that spawned Raptors guard Mike James among other NBAers.

At 6-foot-8, Waithe's game and potential is the envy of a lot of American programs. He has made official visits to Loyola University in Chicago and returned this week after spending two days with officials at the University of Cincinnati.

Waithe always has stated his intention to go to a program that will help develop his game. Perhaps no player has expanded his game in the past two years than Waithe, whose goal is to play pro basketball one day."

                              " PLAYING THE WAITHE GAME

Laurier basketball player Marvell Waithe was scheduled to return home last night after spending the past two days visiting the University of Cincinnati, a rebuilding program that plays in the elite Big East.

Waithe's first official visit was to Chicago's Loyola University. Wake Forest and Michigan also have shown interest in the 6-foot-8 wing player. "

scout still lists Bradley among his choices:

This guy is all over the place with his recruiting...he allegedly knocked Georgia and BU of his listed, and sounded like he was narrowing in on a big program like Cincinnati, and now he visits Duquesne and Loyola...two programs that play in weaker conferences than BU It seems that is he is still looking that he didn't get good news from the Bearcats...maybe we still have a chance.
