  • BU Recruit- class of 2008- Armond Battle

Scout is reporting that Bradley is recruiting and has offered a scholarship to a 6'7, 185 pound forward, Armond Battle, from Benilde-St.Margaret's high school in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota.
He currently has offers from Bradley, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Western Michigan and Montana, but he is getting interest from St. Louis University. He visited Bradley last Sunday.

    From the article below--
Battle visited Wisconsin-Green Bay on Friday morning and participated in the team camp on Friday and Saturday. They visited some friends in Peoria, Ill., on Saturday night and visited Bradley on Sunday morning before heading to St. Louis.
Battle averaged 20.1 points per game as a junior.

Hoopmasters has a new article about BU recruit Armond Battle--

Unfortunately, it requires a subscription to read. But it includes an interview with Battle's high school coach about Battle's plan to make the first of his official visits.
It says he is still considering his top 3 of Northeastern, Tulsa, and Bradley. He has plans to visit Northeastern on this coming weekend, Tulsa on September 21, and he has yet to set an official visit to Bradley, though his coach suggests he plans to.
Let's hope he visits during a big game like the Michigan game!

Agreed...the Michigan St. game will be a very impressive atmosphere to show off to any and all recruits!

I was under the impression he was getting interest from at least a few Big 10 schools. Is there a reason there's no interest from one side or the other at this point?
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

A new premium report and interview with Armond Battle suggests that Bradley has turned up the intensity and is recruiting him hard, and that Battle has narrowed his choices to JUST Bradley, Northeastern (where his AAU teammate Matt Janning went last year and became the CAA Rookie of the Year and led all freshman in the CAA in scoring, rebounding and minutes played. He played in all 32 of NU's games and started 31, averaging 35.4 minutes per game), and Tulsa.

Per Van Coleman, nationally known and recognized recruiting guru...
"Armond Battle, a 6-foot-6 junior forward from St. Louis Park (MN) Benilde St. Margaret, has set up two of his first three official visits.
Armond Battle, a 6-foot-6 junior forward from St. Louis Park (MN) Benilde St. Margaret
...lead the Red Knights to the Class AAA state championship game this past season.
Battle will visit Northeastern this weekend. ...Battle will visit Tulsa September 21st and has yet to set a definite date for a visit to Bradley."

Not sure how accurate the reports are, but earlier this summer it was reported by some of the national recruiting services that Battle had gotten offers from both Creighton and Illinois State.
If he now has his list narrowed to just these three, then BU has at least beaten out other conference rivals, and I think we can beat out Northeastern and Tulsa, too!

Creighton stopped recruiting this kid quite awhile ago in favor of other targets.
