I know Bradley had offers out to several big men, and with the uncertainty regarding the others, they couldn't afford to get shut out. So when Collins wanted to commit, they had to take him. I believe the coaches will continue to recruit the couple guys they have higher on their list.

Looks like the Braves have 3 players on that JUCO list with Cole-Scott PG.....Collins #8 center and D Williams #8 SF!

The school and the coaches cannot comment on recruits until they sign a LOI, so if the kid or the kid's coach are sure he is verballing, then they might just call the local paper with the tip, and I suspect that's how this happened.
Dave Reynolds does do a very fine job covering BU basketball.

Well I will trust the coaching staff on this one. His numbers are unspectacular, not so much the points, but the rebounds... Anyway, if he's a legit 7 footer, and he's athletic he'll be a huge help.

I think I know whose scholarship he has, so it'll be interesting to see if Coley is still coming in, because that'd mean another guy is on his way out. As it stands, if this is the end of our recruiting I'm pretty satisfied.

Here is the updated scholarship grid....

***You must view this on a full page window, not a smaller window in order to see the entire graph**

I thought I'd start this as a separate thread, listing all the players who will be rostered and/or using scholarships over the next 5-6 years.

I tried to draw up a recruit chart like the one on the SIU site,
here is the best I can do:

Each D-I team can have 13 players on full scholarship in any given season.

                  Available Scholarships:
                  2007-2008 -- NONE
                  2008-2009 -- NONE
2010-2011 -- SIX if Crawford is still coming to BU, and only 5 if Singh gets granted an extra hardship year.
                  2011-2012 -- EIGHT
                  2012-2013 -- Eleven

It is possible that Sam Singh could petition the NCAA and get one more year of eligibility in 2009-2010.

I've tried everything I know(which isn't a lot) on the net and have not come up with a picture yet ....the only chance would be to pick one up from a newspaper action shot?

The current roster for next year is actually starting to become balanced with this verbal commitment. There's now going to be five post players. Granted, only one is proven. The talent is obviously in the backcourt, but this seems to give hope to Bradley's weakest link.

I am happy with our recruiting, but I sure want Coley. I really hope we can get him somehow. From what I've read he could take us from competing for the title to being the team to beat.

Agree 100%. We wouldn't offer a scholarship if we didn't envision the kid playing for us or didn't think he was good enough. Sure, the staff has their preferences and an order that they'd like to get the players, but they wouldn't offer if they didn't want the guy. He wants to be at BU, had decent programs after him (UNC-Charlotte, San Diego St), and has something you just can't teach in his 7 foot frame. This is a good get for BU, and give me more confidence that we'll get another kid in the next week or so.

Coley's a good looking player (as is Knapp) but I don't know if I'm in a hurry to get him because a scholarship is open for DeAaron Williams for example. Time will tell, if he visits campus, then evidently somebody's leaving.

One, possibly 2 more scholarships may still become available. The Van Coleman ratings made me even more excited about this committment. In our system, a player of his size can be invaluable if he can rebound, defend, and run the floor. 7 footers with athleticism are hard to find, and can dominate a league like the Valley. Let's get him working with Ronnie Wright and Lennox Forrester and see what we can make out of this kid.

The front line is looking a little better with 6'7" Salley, 7'0" Collins, 6'11" Thompson, and 6'9" Egolf. Adding one more would have us all set.

To be honest, if it came down to it, I'd take Coley over DW. If DW graduates I would not want to give away his scholarship, I don't think that's fair, but who knows about all of that but I don't wanna get off topic here, theres a whole thread about this.
