  • BU recruit- class of 2008- Iman Shumpert

Here is an update on Iman Shumpert-
Bradley would really like this kid, but he is now getting offers from some pretty high majors.

Here is a link to a new premium article on Rivals today--

Rivals.com Profile. Contains 17 schools that are interested in him--

In brief- he told a reporter for the Wisconsin Rivals recruiting site he is trying to whittle down his long list of interested schools and offers.
"The most attention would be coming from Illinois, Bradley, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Marquette, Northwestern," he said, "and it was Arizona State, but sort of I wasn't looking to go to Arizona State and I told them that, so we have everything settled with Arizona State. That's basically the most visible ones right now. Those are the people recruiting me the most right now."

He went on to say that Wisconsin has backed off and is no longer recruiting him since he broke his arm late last season.

So Bradley is still on his short list

New article on Iman Shumpert, and he lists BRADLEY
as one of the HIGH MAJORS that have offered.

("also rans" include Tennessee, Illinois, and Duke!!, but Bradley seems to be in his listing of favorites!)

Sounds promising at the least. If we do get him we will most definitly be getting a "wow" recruit...

It is nice that Bradley is repeatedly mentioned in the choice list of so many of these Chicago and mid-western kids.... and this is a phenomenon that is unheard of prior to Jim Les' tenure!
Mo never got those Chicago kids to name BU, and we're talking kids who sometimes end up at the big schools.
I konw we almost never get these kids in the end (kids like Shumpert, Matt Humphrey, Nick Freundt, etc.) but I like the idea that the name of Bradley is out there.
In the next few years it will become apparent that this is paying off, as we now have the 3-star kids choosing Bradley, I can't wait until we finally land a 4-star(s).

Exactly T! Les knows from his years in sales that if you make enough calls, enough presentations, and have enough prospects in the hopper that you will eventually close a big one, and that others will follow after that. Sales (read recruiting) is all a numbers game

It is really exciting, and I think it is a bit of the "getting 3-stars now" and if we keep getting them and keep winning, soon we'll have a shot at a 4-star or two.

Of course you don't just look at the "star" rating when recruiting kids, but in general, the better players are rated higher, and in all the years I have followed BU basketball (over 40!) I don't recall Bradley ever having so many highly rated recruits at one time.

The 1 thru 5 star rating system has only been around for a decade or two but we'd have been lucky to have even ONE 3-start recruit in any given season from the 80's through recently.
But as noted elsewhere, we'll have 4 or 5 3-star guys next year, all on the same team, and maybe one or two more the following year.

Mo didnt get allot of the Chicago kids but he did get Danny Granger who might be the best recruit since Mitchell JJ Anderson. I agree the level of recruits has gone up but I wouldnt mind having a Rob Dye, Philip Gilbert or Billy Wright on the team.
                Can we start winning soon?

I agree assuming JL is around and the ship heads in it's current direction I think it's only a matter of time before we get one every few seasons. I think what asst. coach we hire will make determine when this starts happening.

Wonder where Tisby was rated in HS?

BTW a healthy Billy Wright yes before eye injury, after his injury he couldnt shoot and I felt hurt BU because no one guarded him.

Why did you link the Windycityhshoops journal when I, a loyal bradleyfan, had the same journal on my website before they had it on thiers?
                          No jk im not trippin
I talked to Iman today and i really dont think Bradley is an option though he at one time loved Bradley. I see him commiting to Clemson or GT.... just a prediction...
Anyone see my article on Jake Lindfors on bluedemonsnation.com ? His dad played at Bradley and he could be a good get for the braves.

Daniel....if you had that story on Shumpert first....then we're sorry we didn't see it.
You gotta helkp us and get it up here whenever you can..

Anyway, the way Iman is blowing up, we know he isn't likely to be at Bradley.

By the way, any thoughts, Daniel, on the recruiting class of Bradley?

As for the story on Lindfors, I did see it and I have a question...
The article says Jake's dad was a star for Bradley....
but he played only one season and scored a total of only about 40 points before leaving and transferring to NIU.

I might hesitate to term that caliber of performance as being a "star".
