New Rivals premium article about Chris Colvin from the University of Minnesota site, GopherIllustrated.com.--

It reports that Minnesota coach Tubby Smith is very interested in 2009 point guard prospect Colvin.
Here is a portion of what is reported--
Colvin is described as a skilled point guard with good poise. He has the ability to run the offense, distribute the basketball accordingly, as well as score for his team. Colvin has good handles and is a nice defensive player. The focus remains on the improvement of his jumpshot which some have described as becoming increasingly consistent.

As a four star prospect Colvin has received offers from Iowa, Illinois, Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, and Bradley plus there is much more interest in Chris throughout the country.

"There is interest from some of the same schools as last year like Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern, Wyoming," listed Ike Colvin. "Georgia Tech is looking at him, USC, Bradley, Miami of Ohio, Miami (Fl), Wisconsin, and some others."

At this point in the recruiting process it seems Chris has some time ahead of him before he makes a college decision. "Chris is wide open," Ike explained. "We are just looking for a school that fits his style of play. We are looking for a Memphis, a Louisville, a UCLA, those type of get up and down schools."

In the most recent Rivals top 100 rankings for 2009 last put together in November, Colvin was listed as the 40th ranked recruit in the nation and 7th for point guards. This March the DePaul Rivals site released a statewide ranking for Illinois that had Colvin as the fifth best prospect in state, number one amongst listed point guards. Three of the guys ahead of Chris are backcourt players including Illinois commits
Brandon Paul and D.J. Richardson as well as uncommitted Darius Smith.

In other respected Illinois rankings Colvin was listed as the second best 2009 player in state by IllinoisHSbasketball back in January. Most recently Chris was ranked as the 7th best 2009 player in Illinois by ChicagoHoops who released their rankings two days ago.

That is a premium scout article, but it really doesn't say much....
        Here's an excerpt...

"Chris Colvin Gets Minnesota Interest Premium Story"

Chris Colvin, a 6-foot-3 junior guard from Chicago (IL) Whitney Young, is one of the top guards in the Midwest and his list of schools continues to grow. Colvin has received recruiting interest from Minnesota and could soon receive a scholarship offers from the Gophers.
Chris Colvin helped lead Whitney Young to a 25-5 mark this past season as they were 9-1 in the Chicago Public Red League. The Dolphins were a No. 1 seed in the playoffs before being upset by No. 11 Mt. Carmel, 58-52.

Colvin played for a team loaded with backcourt talent. A.J. Rompza, a 5-foot-10 senior, signed with Central Florida. Colvin is joined in the junior class by Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael. The team has two talented sophomores in Anthony Johnson and Ahmad Starks.

Ike Colvin said that his son is getting increased interest from several major schools.
"Providence, Marquette is strongly on him and Minnesota are showing interest," Ike said. "Providence, Oklahoma and Florida State have recently offered."

Colvin said that his son does not have a favorite school yet.

"It is kind of early," Ike said.

Colvin said that his son has not decided on a major in college yet.

"He doesn't know what he wants to major in yet. He's got a qualifying score on his ACT and is a good student."

Check out the picture about halfway down the page. It has Rick Pitino-Billy Gillispie-and check out the Bradley coach right there.

I saw that picture a couple days ago, and posted about it in this thread--

The Bradley coach in the picture with Billy Gillispie and Rick Pitino is Eric Buescher.

If he has a scholarship offer from Kentucky, I would be amazed if he turns it down to go elsewhere! :0

A Rivals premium article from 8/7/08 on Chris Colvin doesn't look so good for Bradley.

Here is what Colvin now says about his top schools--

Colvin wants to take some official visits this fall, as he has only been on an unofficial visit to Florida State this summer. Although he hasn't yet decided on his visit dates, the 2009 point guard has three schools on top of his list.

"I just got a call from Baylor University , Florida State, and USC, those are the top three I'm looking at right now," Colvin said. "The other schools are still in the running, but those are the top three. Providence , Kentucky , Nebraska , Colorado , the University of Illinois , Minnesota , those are the main ones. I'm going to try and take some visits and then make a decision sometime in September. We're going to take some officials in September."

Colvin plans on taking the visits next month and making a fairly quick decision, so he spoke about what is he looking for on his upcoming visits.

"When I look at a school I meet with the academic advisor and look at what type of support I'm going to get education wise," Colvin said. "I'll look at how the campus is, how the coaches are, and how I fit in."

The latest on one-time BU recruit Chris Colvin-
The Illinois Scout site has a new premium article and he names his top 3 schools. He names USC, Illinois, and Kentucky, but he does not clarify which schools have offered scholarships. He does say Illinois has, but do they even have any more scholarships for 2009?--

The Illini are definitely on Colvin??™s list of schools, which also include Florida State, NIU, USC, Providence, and Kentucky. But there are three that could be placed on a higher plateau.
???My favorite list of schools right now is USC, Illinois and Kentucky,??? Colvin said. ???I??™m not sure which schools have actually offered. My dad has all that information, but I do know Illinois did offer. It??™s not that I??™m not comfortable with Illinois; I??™m just waiting and weighing my options to see what the best thing is for me right now.???
Although the Illini have commitments from other talented guards in the classes of 2009 and 2010, that isn??™t weighing heavily on Colvin??™s mind. ???I know they signed three guards, but what I??™m more worried about is what school I??™m going to pick,??? Colvin stated.

Chris Colvin says he has made his decision, and will announce it on Nov. 12th, and sign on the final day of the November signing period, Nov. 19th.

                        It's a premium article--

                        He says--

???I sat down with my parents and I think we came up with a decision on what school I??™m going to go to and I??™m going to sign on the 19th,??? Colvin said. ???The visits that I??™ve taken have been good. I??™m going to verbal on the 12th and sign on the 19th.???
Colvin, a standout at Chicago (Ill.) Whitney Young, said he will pick either Iowa State, Providence, Illinois, Marquette, USC or Connecticut.

He talked a little about how much he enjoyed his trip to Iowa State, so that might be a hint where he will decide?
