  • BU recruit- 2016- Hunter Rhodes

Hunter Rhodes, a sophomore at Kirkwood Community College, is being recruited by Bradley. He will visit Bradley Sunday, 4/10/16.

He averaged 12.6 ppg, and 4.1 apg, and he shot 44.1% from three this past season for Kirkwood. He helped lead Kirkwood to the NJCAA Division II National Championship last month. And he was just named to the 1st team All American team by the NJCAA-

He is a grad of Canton HS.

I have heard from a pretty reliable source that Hunter Rhodes signed with Northern Iowa as a preferred walkon today.

UNI had a little advantage of not being in rebuild-mode

He probably fits UNI's recruit profile more than he does Bradley's. He could look at UNI's offense and sees one that stresses a lot of three-point shooting.

After losing Matt Bohannon, Paul Jesperson, Arias Austin (left team early in season), and Wes Washpun, Hunter Rhodes will have a chance to play a big role there next season. He was a good three point shooter at Kirkwood CC, but it is a big step up from there to D1, and we'll see if he has the quickness to create good shooting chances.
The only good 3-point shooter they have returning from last season's MVC Championship team will be Jeremy Morgan, who will be a senior, and he'll get a lot more defensive attention next season. UNI has 4 redshirt freshmen who will be eligible to play next season but none of them are proven 3-point marksmen. And they also have 3 incoming recruits along with a transfer (who will sit out the 2016-17 season), and it seems unlikely that any of them will be playing much since Jacobsen prefers to redshirt his freshmen.

It is now being reported that Hunter Rhodes will be a scholarship player on UNI's roster. If that is the case, Bradley really never stood a chance offering only a preferred walkon spot.
