Sounds like everywhere he goes, they offer him a scholarship. Let's hope we land him.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Did Scottie make his campus visit today?

Hope so - but we may not know -
this coaching staff is a bit different in that they keep things secret...the last coaching staff liked to get things out but the new guys do not - I like it better this way to avoid negative recruiting

Sure is quite regarding James. Anybody know if he was here yesterday?? Did anyone see him and the coach on campus or out eating anywhere??

I saw Coach Wardle with some assistant coaches with a very tall young man who resembles the player in the above videos; they were in Markin Center this morning, near the climbing wall.

I stopped and said "hello" to Coach; when I introduced myself (math faculty) he said his recruit was interested in engineering.

I sure hope Coach Wardle gets him to sign on the dotted line today. Would love to see this kid in a Bradley uniform. Coach Wardle is doing a remarkable job so far. If Coach can get Scotty to sign today, i look for a move up in the standings next year. We are definitely on our way. I'll take the new recruits and give you 10pts. against last years team!!

You Want Engineering? We Got Engineering!

Please remind Scottie a company with some of the best engineers in the world is HQ'd less than 5 miles from BU. They also have a summer internship program!

I did talk up the engineering program. Coach Wardle asked "so our program is a good one?"

                    My reply: "yes; ask Caterpillar".

                      BU Recruit-Scottie James...

Bradleys Engineering school is one of the finest in the nation. Outstanding teachers, great facilities, tie- ins to major companies like Cat, internships, etc. BW and his staff should be sure to tour this school and talk to professors when this recruiting season is over so they are equipped to discuss it with recruits. Many of the schools we compete against in recruiting do not offer Engineering majors. For example, does Winthrop or Fla. Gulf Coast have Engineering schools?

You're right! And there are very few athletes that stay with engineering, due to the class time demands vs. the amount of time away from class, with the road games. It's almost impossible to keep up.

How many scholarship basketball players have graduated with Engineering degrees over the last 30 years?

                                MBB Players & Engineering Majors

There are 3 things one can do in college:
Play sports or work a job
                                Study
                                Social life

Most can do 2 of 3. It is a matter of interest, aptitude, and discipline.

Exceptional kids can do all 3.

With the help of tutoring and electronic
learning tools, BU MBB and Engineering Degree should not be mutually exclusive.

A very good college friend of mine was a scholarship fb player at Iowa State (starter) who graduated on time with a Civil Engineering degree and went on to become a highly successful engineer/manager/ executive of a national company.

No need to lower the bar, or expectations, of kids who are exceptional athletes. If anything, we should expect kids who have the drive, intelligence, and discipline to be successful in sports (or arts etc) to also excell in an academic pursuit of their interest.
