New recruit name- Auston Barnes, a 6'7" junior college forward from Odessa CC in Texas- to visit this weekend-

He is originally from Lansing, Michigan and was a preferred walkon at Central Michigan University. He redshirted his first year (2010-2011), then played as a redshirt freshman in 2011-2012. He left when CMU changed coaches, and transferred to Odessa.
He appeared in 29 games for Central Michigan in the 2011-2012, averaging 1.0 ppg, and 1.3 rpg.

At Central Michigan in 2011-2012, he shot 100% from three! (1 for 1 )
But he was a very good free throw shooter- 82% at CMU, and 75% at Odessa.

He would have 2 years of eligibility in D1.

Which recruits? Swopshire and Blake and Shaw and Tucker? Or just this kid and the Miami kid? (BTW the Miami kid was their leading scorer .... doubt he'd be worthless as a one-year bench option.) The whole body of work with regard to this year's recruits seems pretty solid. As with all recruits, time will tell.

If the stats are correct, he averaged 8.4 points per game; but only played 6.8 minutes per game. WOW!

The minutes per game are almost never correct on the NJCAA statistics website. Many juco games don't have the stat manpower to track minutes per player, so the minutes played that a few games report get diluted by games that do not track this stat.

He was a class of 2010 recruit initially, which means he has already been in college 3 years. He redshirted his first season at CMU (2010-2011) though he did play in 1 game and was scoreless. He then played in 29 games in the 2011-2012 season.
