Most of Texas A&M CC's success in recruiting Illinois is because of Assistant Coach Billy Garrett's past familiarity with this area. He is an Illinois State grad (he played football, not basketball), and coached high school basketball at Providence St. Mel in the Chicago area before getting several college jobs, and eventually a job under Steve Alford at Iowa where he did a lot of recruiting in Illinois.

They already have several Chicago area kids on their roster--

If i'm not mistaken I believe Milos has more of the European slasher type of game then can play down on the block but also hit the outside humper including 3's. I haven't read to much about Proser but from what I can remember he is a monster down on the block and like to stay down there and doesn't shoot the 3's.

To me it sounds like both are in the mold of Dane Watts or Matt Shaw, a little inside/outside type guys. We have not had a guy like this on our team the last couple of years, which we could have used. You could argue Sommerville was like this, although he was more of 3 than a post player. I say get them both even if they are similar as I think having guys some bigs that can step out and hit the 3 would be nice to have.

I'm with Maj. Over the past couple of years, the biggest hole on this roster has been the lack of quality size and depth up front. While it might be a 'guards' game, BU has never lacked quality guards since Jim Les took over, and arguably even before he took over. The bigger we are, and the more quality big bodies we get, the better our chances for competing for league titles. And on a larger scale, the better our chances for competing with the traditionally bigger, stronger BCS teams in the postseason.

i agree. i trust the coaching staff also, especially because it is clear they are thinking the same thing. i'm still waiting to hear about us going after good shooting guards. i'm not worried but i think that is where we need to focus next. we can't play three guys under six feet at the same time.

The only weakness I can ever recall was depth in Les' first year. And in no fault to Les or the players. Tucker could've relieved that immensely. 'Cello was playing on 65% knees at best, and I remember have numerous multiple-possession leads and Tauai was forced to play point for stretches and the opposition would have 6-8 point swings, changing the game. Lubbock was one of those games.

Tucker could've relieved Gilbert at the 2 and Gilly could've taken more extensive minutes at point.

                  Well said BB!
There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!

Depth wins championships. When we lost to Louisville in '86 it was not because they had a better starting 5 it was because they had a much deeper bench and our guys just were worn out towards the end. I like the idea of 2-3 big guys around 6'8" that are athletic and can also hit the 3. This will give JL so many options. This will also give JP the chance to play theposition and develop the skills that he will play need in the pros.

Dave Reynolds has an update from Jordan Prosser's father:

When contacted Thursday, Prosser's father, Stan, said his son was very interested in Iowa and BU but has yet to compile a short list. Jordan Prosser is playing with the Indiana Elite AAU team this week in Las Vegas.
"Once he gets through with the Vegas tournament and has a chance to digest everything, maybe he'll be ready to make a list," Stan Prosser said. "I think he'll probably make a final decision sometime after school starts."

Also included in the story is more on Jeremy Crouch signing with Will Franklin's team in Europe.

Sounds like both guys could be the Chad Klein type of player. Step out and set the high screen and then get the kick for the outside shot. Could really open up the lane for drives or post ups!

Mrcoachdude, did you teach Jordan how to perform the Kleine-flop??

Sam Singh reminds me more of Kleine. Kleine was a BEAST!

There is no chance that Jordan has pefected the "flop". I doubt I taught him much I just applauded many many times when he played for us.....probably the thing that sticks out the most was when my wife, daughter and I went out to dinner with JP after a tourney...he was a polite as a young man can be....if you want a young man that can play some hoops and be a player with character....Jordan fits that to a "T"
