Another nice game for Nate Kennell as the 17U Illinois Wolves win again to go to 4-0 in Kansas City Hardwood Classic at the Adidas. The final was Illinois Wolves 61 KC Premiere Black 40, and Nate had 15 points.

They move to the Elite 8 in the Championship Bracket and will play the Tri-City Thunder (from Batavia, Geneva, and St. Charles, Illinois) Sunday at 10:55 AM.

Nate Kennel with yet another clutch game winning shot and helps his team vs. top level AAU competition...

the kid would probably have zoomed to 3 or 4-Star status had he been a big school verbal

As noted, Nate Kennell hit the game-winning shot (total of 13) this morning to help the Illinois Wolves beat the Tri-City Thunder 65-64 in the Elite Eight game, remain undefeated, and move to the Final Four in the top Championship Bracket.

Then in the semifinal matchup between the Illinois Wolves and Team Penny that just ended, the Wolves were edged out and eliminated by Team Penny 58-55. Team Penny, from Memphis, Tennessee, is sponsored by, named after, and coached by former NBA star Penny Hardaway.

The other semifinal game had the MOKAN Elite team beating Howard Pulley 64-44.
MOKAN Elite, who is not only undefeated, but has won their games by an average margin of over 25 points, is loaded with talent, will play Team Penny at 2:30 PM for the title in the 17U Championship Bracket.

One of Bradley's 2016 recruits, point guard Aaron Cook, is a member of the MOKAN Elite team. He doesn't play much and averages only 1.6 ppg. He plays behind a couple other point guards, including Trae Young, one of the top point guard prospects in the country in the class of 2016.

Nearly all of the other Illinois Wolves teams had significant success at the event. Congratulations to Nate and the Illinois Wolves program.

In case you're wondering what we're getting in Nate Kennell - here's video of Nate's workout the day he verballed to Bradley
-- pretty good use of both hands..and doesn't miss many shots
Only a few hours after Nate Kennell (SG Metamora High School) committed to play for Coach Brian Wardle and the Bradley Braves, he was in the gym working. Wo...

Nate has really improved his ball handling, his release point has gotten higher and the the shot-release quicker. He is getting great coaching at Metamora, and will continue to get great coaching at Bradley. I am sure he'll keep getting better and I think he could be able to contribute right away with Bradley.

In response to a couple questions I have received about a rumor..
there was an incident - perhaps best described as a relatively commonplace & harmless dust-up between students from the competing schools (Metamora/Pontiac) at last Friday's FB game.. barely more than a little taunting but nowadays this stuff just isn't gonna be tolerated ...nobody hurt, and it was over in seconds.
As would be expected, the authorities ended it quickly and a few relatively minor penalties were handed down - with the max being a 1-day suspension from school - but some kids are not allowed to attend any more FB games.
How this affects anyone's athletic eligibility apparently has not yet been decided - but it may not at all - time will tell.
