Dixson's family moved from Freeport, IL (not Chicago) several years ago - and he has hopped around to several different JHS's and high schools in Freeport, IL, West Virginia & Kentucky so far in his first three high school seasons (Huntington, WV, Ashland, Bardstown Thomas Nelson (where he was coached by current Morton resident Jim Youngman), Mingo Central (W. Va.)...he did not play much last year due to transfer, thus he is a bit "below the radar".

His current high school is in Delbarton, West Virginia - it is a relatively small high school (enrollment about 750) compared to what we see in bigger cities,
but actually quite large for rural WV - it is a broad consolidated school encompassing several districts just across the Kentucky border from Pikeville & Ashland -

Why does his family keep moving?

I cannot find an answer to that with certainty, but families do move for lots of reasons...
that said - there is talk on certain Kentucky high school basketball message boards that a couple factors were at play...
one being their inability to get along with teammates, and the other being "outside" advice the two keep following that sorta ends up backfiring..
for example - they left Ashland in September of 2013 then landed at Thomas Nelson HS ...
Then just 3 months later they both left Thomas Nelson right smack in the middle of the 2013-14 season and shopped themselves around but found some coaches at some high schools did not want to get involved.
Then when they finally landed at their next high school - they were unable to get eligible - thus costing them both much of the entire last season.
That might work to our advantage since it is claimed that recruiting interest from West Virginia, Louisville, Kentucky, UConn, Iowa State, Illinois, Memphis and more suddenly dried up a bit...

about the only recruit playing the field more than Max Bielfeldt is Dikembe Dixson - no sooner does he tweet that he has narrowed to just those three...
then he reopens his recruitment and planned a trip to Tennessee and anyone else who might call...including South Carolina, Wake Forest, DePaul and possibly more...

Then he backed out of his visit to Tennessee - claiming that the Tennessee personnel wanted to take more time to review film of him before the visit and that they had failed to receive the film sent to them!
Next thing you know, they're gonna cancel cuz they're washing their hair...

Anyway - seems this late in the signing period (more than a week past the end) everyone is getting desperate - so now DePaul & Wake Forest have called him and he's gonna maybe visit there..

btw he also arranged a visit to Arkansas then backed out at the last minute AND dropped them from his list when reportedly
there was something about the "offer" that was not to his liking. He's also bounced around four different high schools in 3 different states...
...and there's this comment by one guy who checked out what was available on Dixson....
"I'm a little depressed about possibly signing this kid.....I was looking for stats for him and I found a box score for one of his games.....
Dikembe had 20 pts and 15 Rebs but his team lost by 23 to a high school team called the Poca Dots.....LOL"
