If a kid is good enough to land 6 or 8 decent D-I offers, I'd be shocked if he comes out of high school and pays his own way somewhere. I suppose it has happened somewhere but mostly with kids who have limited offers and that's one of their few options.

I suppose I was thinking specifically of Malcolm armstead. He was transferring from Oregon, not coming out of high school so not an exact parable. but if williams doesn't play at all this year his stock might take a hit, which would open up the possibility that his other options might dry up.
      Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

could be - I'd take a kid whose stock fell when he wasn't able to or didn't play - that's kinda how we landed Dyricus & to a lesser degree Mike Shaw

Former Bradley recruit Christian Williams, who had been prevented from playing at Decatur St. Teresa because of a brief transfer to Springfield Lanphier and back, was finally cleared to play at Decatur St. Teresa-

I noticed the words 'former recruit'. Have we stopped actively recruiting him? From reading the boards, the emphasis seems to be junior college to get more immediate help. Although it usually takes JC players at least 1/2 season to get used to MVC basketball.

in an article from within the past week, Williams still references the offer from Bradley among his options...

but as happens every spring - instead of just being one of the Class of 2015 - he will now be among the best unsigned seniors and there will be a feeding frenzy this spring so our chances are uncertain

One Chicago recruiting guy lists Illinois State, Loyola, and St. Louis. ISU and Loyola were at his game last night, and St. Louis is in to visit him today per his AAU coach Gavin Sullivan.
There is no mention of Bradley...

Now Florida Gulf Coast is coming on strong in recruiting former BU recruit Christian Williams. It has to be hard not to be influenced by the beaches, sunshine, and great basketball played at FGCU!

Christian Williams is leaving Iowa and will transfer at semester break. He wants to be "closer to home" which pretty much means Bradley, ISU (blue or red) or SLU since they are about the only D1 schools closer than Iowa City to his home.

He's not a true PG but had to play that role at Iowa since they have a full roster of 2's and 3's. He is NOT a shooter at all, but can take the ball to the hole and can defend multiple positions. I'm guessing he'd start at the 3 or be one of the first off the bench next year.

I'll predict that BW goes after Christian. He'd be eligible 2nd semester next year then have 1 full year remaining.

As I posted last night, I didn't think Bradley would be the best destination for him.
We do not have any open scholarships, and that would be near-impossible to get Williams to transfer to Bradley if he has to pay his own way.
And Wardle has shown that he is not a big fan of transfers from other schools. The only one he has taken, Alex Foster, never benefitted Bradley at all.

Here are his statistics for his 2 seasons at Iowa, not very pretty-
View the profile of Indiana State Sycamores Guard Christian Williams on ESPN. Get the latest news, live stats and game highlights.

Like you say, he is not much of a shooter. He only averaged 2.4 ppg last season, and shot 35% overall, and just 15% from three. Those are bad numbers from someone who plays mostly on the perimeter. He only averaged 1.6 rpg, and he shot barely 50% on free throws.
I really like his athleticism, and since we lose our 2 most athletic guys after this year (Donte Thomas & Jojo McGlaston) that is something I believe the coaches are looking to add. But I don't know if he is the right fit for Wardle's style.
