  • BU recruit- 2014 Patrick McCaw

Bradley has offered a scholarship to Patrick McCaw of Christian Brothers HS in St. Louis. He is a 6'5" combo guard. He plays a lot of point guard, but is being recruited as a shooting guard because of his outstanding perimeter game.

I wonder if McCaw and Doby are trying to go somewhere together? Has BU ever signed a tandem from the same HS?

I would offer and take both these players in a heartbeat, hope Geno and Co. are putting the full court press on!

Too bad that didn't work out better.

it didn't - but not because it was an inherently bad decision to go after those guys..........
.. it definitely would have worked out great had there not been a major executive decision made back in 2002

Here is a new premium article from the Virginia Tech Rivals site about 2014 Bradley recruit Patrick McCaw-

              A couple quotes-

As a combo guard, Christian Brothers' (Mo.) Patrick McCaw's ability gives him a few mismatches....
I'm 6'5" and a half. I'd probably list myself as a combo guard because I feel like I can get recruited by schools at the one or the two."...

McCaw claims offers thus far from Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Illinois State, Bradley and Loyola-Chicago. Tennessee, Creighton and Florida State have also shown interest, giving McCaw plenty to think about....

This summer, McCaw will be playing AAU with the Mac Irvin Fire. It's an opportunity that McCaw said he hopes will really jetison his recruitment, plus allow him to develop his game.

Well that bodes well at least!

How often does a kid from Missouri play for a Chicago AAU team?

I have heard of a few kids playing with a team this far from where they live, but it is rare. Maybe he has relatives he'll stay with in the Chicago area. It's a long drive.

DePaul has suddenly become very interested in Patrick McCaw. It is reported that he will visit the DePaul campus this week on an official visit. He is still also considering Bradley, St. Louis, and Mississippi.

Any word on what McCaw will do? Is he waiting until spring?

Yes, he and his teammate Raymond Doby have transferred to Montrose Christian HS in Maryland, and they plan to wait until spring to sign. They are making this move hoping to get higher offers.
