  • Class 0f 2007- Justin Johnson

I searched his name on here but didnt find it. On ESPN insider they team with Scout.com to provide recruiting information and it lists Justin Johnson, a 6'7" 190 SF from Brophy Prep School in Phoenix, AZ. It lists Bradley as his first choice ahead of Stanford, Texas A&M, and Illinois. Not sure he is the type of player we need at this point.

Thanks for the update on this kid. Actually we do have a thread on Justin Johnson, but it has been a while since any news has come ouit on him--

As the link notes, he is the son of eddie Johnson, former great from Westinghouse, University of Illinois, and the NBA.

I can't find him listed in the Scout database. But he is listed in Rivals.com, and Bradley is still listed--

Justin Johnson has decided to reclassify to the class of 2008, and attend Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.

Here is a premium article about this former Bradley recruit who is the son of former Chicago Westinghouse, University of Illinois, and NBA star Eddie Johnson.--

Justin has a 4.0 gradepoint average, and will graduate from his high school in Arizona, but wants an extra year to get stronger to play at Div I. That usually means he didn't get as high an offer as he and his father wanted. The article doesn't mention any schools recruiting him, but here is his profile and there are a number of schools listed as interested, but it doesn't list any Div I schools offering a scholarship.--

Justin Johnson is attending Brewster Academy and has grown to 6' 7 1/2 and weighs 205 lbs. This kid is a definite sleeper i saw one of Brewsters workouts this fall and he is highly skilled and can flat out shoot the rock! Knee tendonitis has kept him on ice the first 5 games i hear! don't know if he wants to come back to the state of Illinois and be under the microscope of his dads history.

After an injury filled year at Brewster Academy, Justin Johnson got little recruiting interest. But now he has committed to Fresno State as a walk-on.--

          Premium article--

          Profile--

Here are a couple clips from the premium article--
The Bulldogs have added another piece to the puzzle with the recent commitment of Justin Johnson, a long 6-foot-7, 190-pound shooting guard originally from Arizona. Johnson spent this past season at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, and while injury curtailed his recruitment, the son of NBA marksman Eddie Johnson felt he found the right opportunity in Fresno.

"Basically I was finishing up my year at Brewster and Coach (Jeff) Reinert had seen me play," Johnson said. "He knew I was still looking and gave me and my dad a call and told us all about Fresno State. I went out and visited and they sold me on it. I felt it was the place for me to go."

Fresno State, of course, is limited with the number of scholarships they can give because of NCAA sanctions from the previous regime. With that said, Johnson will be walking on with the hopes of getting a scholarship when it's available, but that was fine with him given what he saw from the program.

Johnson likely would have had some scholarship offers to choose from had he not gotten injured at Brewster Academy, which all but ended his Division I college recruitment. But with his length, upside, and shooting ability - which he undoubtedly inherited from his father - Johnson was still viewed as a valuable commodity to Cleveland and his staff, especially if he's continuing to recover as planned.
